Am as disappointed as everyone else, but..... you dont sell your family silver for next to nothing because everyone else thinks it would be a good idea and beneficial to sell it for next to nothing!.
Hull FC fans whine about anything. Not too long ago they wanted to leave the kc and go back to the boulevard!
Unfortunately Melton may be a bridge to far, but what about the Humber Bridge. Could not the Allams buy land in the Bridge/Hessle area. Then negotiate with the East Riding Council. People may not go out to Melton but Hessle is far more accessible.
lol if humbersides correct they offered the council zero and wanted a one off 30-40m of them! to stick a gift tag on what would be a "marvellous present to the people of Hull".I dunno think it fell through as a matter of "trust" in the end.
Yeah it's not clear at all on the website, had a quick look and the councils portfolio holders are shown here https://web5.hullcc.gov.uk/akshull/users/public/admin/main.pl?op=ListCommitteeDetails&keyid=3 and of those I'd suggest cllr hale would be the one who the asset management (or equivalent) would report to. If you emailed the address you put it should - in theory - go to the appropriate section.
I've got a very strange feeling there has been a coup in the Labour group on this. You have the council leader - Brady - stating that lawyers were negotiating this afternoon - within hours - the position has changed. No sale, end of. Who makes this announcement? Council leader Brady? No... Terry Geraghty, portfolio holder for sport and leisure admittedly - but he nailed his colours to the mast in August - giving exactly the opinion he has repeated today. http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-13060410-detail/story.html I think he's simply secured the support of the Labour block - or half of the council of any colour - which has neutered any discussions Brady was having. Interestingly - since Geraghty has already stated his position - and this has been one of the biggest talking points of the summer... Why end it today? It got a whole 20 second mention on Look North. Burying controversial news under the Brough story maybe?
Link might not work actually but if you go to council & democracy then councillor information it should show portfolio holders.
If that is the case - humiliate the Allams. There is not one City fan who would back that - despite backing the development. If that's really the case - make the info public. If they can't do that - simply state publicly, "there is an asking price, we are waiting for the Allams to meet it." But they haven't done that. They're saying it's simply not for sale, and not for negotiation. Because Hull Fair uses it. This is not the Allams at fault.
I would hazzard a guess here that it's not the value of the stadium which is the sticking point, but the value of the other land in the project. The stadium has a value as its been recently built and can be costed. But you have to value the land its on and the other surrounding land. The land value is another matter, it is not easy to value and the Council will be asking top dollar for it. If you compared the two valuations (Allam's and HCC) and took away the Councils extra land area valuation from the Allams total overall valuation, it may not leave much for the stadium in their (Councils) eyes. Just a thought.
I would instinctively side with Mr Allam on this but without knowing any of the details it would be unfair to slate the council. We don't know how far he was trying to push them. Would it be fair to give the Allams the stadium and land in exchange for them paying for the building work?
Just e-mailed the main switchboard asking for Terry Geraghty's e-mail. Will let you know if I get anything.

A relative of my good lady believes this may be due in part to the earlier enteprises of certain parties when money was loaned-lost and never refunded---
Never thought I would say this but I hope the people of Hull decide NEVER to vote Labour again. That is the only way the people can let their opinion be known now and I hope they vote that way en masse at the next election. How anyone can hold Hull Fair up as a reason for not building a purpose built sports village that would employ hundreds for decades is beyond me. Very frustrating that people like Gerraghty can use their own false power AGAINST the wishes of the vast majority.
