I made a point earlier. The BBC .. Saddam Hussein dies in swing accident. They are becoming that trustworthy.
will investigate setting fire to something not belonging to you is arson! arson is a criminal offence
OK hahaha ... you didn't answer the question should we wipe you from history because you made 1 mistake? second part owning slaves … if I had been a slave, and been taken miles from where I called home ..living in fear of the next tribal battle, and possible death, next illness or going hungry because there was no food. I would think having made the journey "and settled in" I would think I was lucky and would have made the best of what I had. You have to remember [ and there were some bad ones ] most "owners" looked after their workers ...health care very limited as it was 17th/ 18th centuries often available. Many were given freedom and some became landowners / farmers ……
inter /or tribal selling of females from early age [ single numbers like 8 ] is quite widespread across Africa [ Asia also] as you say taken as done as part of their social circle. BLM'S view [ whilst I believe all lives matter ] is a bit like tunnel vision, a fixation on one aspect … seems to fit in with comment above singular fixation BCFCRob, I must be honest, you do not seem to be able to comprehend what you are on about, or able to distinguish the credibility of the "helpful answers you get" you often do not believe them [until about 2 or more have tried to be helpful in explaining them ]or you try to turn it into a joke or lighthearted retort. AFRICA ...modern day Africa as CLIFTON says is still rife with the sort of behavior that is currently being the fuel of the unrest ….. not caring about social norms is not the best way to help the world … and it was an accepted way of life for 1000's of years to enslave … a person ..persons... a country … go back 3000 years before AD and CHECK OUT WORLD HISTORY … then when you answer some of the questions / comments you might be able to come up with a sensible approach to a serious sitituation
yep could be treason … also you make a good point and back here in the 17th and 18th centuries, the people are and were largely uneducated. The vast majority of people couldn't read or write and wouldn't have had a school to go to. some of the plantations estates did have schools of a sort for the slaves generally schools were very few throughout the civilised world of the time … and only those that chose to learn did so. Have been doing some research regarding west coast pre civil war 1700 on wards it was not simply a slave was sold to the highest bidder and worked to death … In the early years, the line between white indentured servants and African laborers was vague, as some Africans also arrived under an indenture, before more were transported as slaves. Some Africans were allowed to earn their freedom before slavery became a lifelong racial caste. Most of the free colored families found in North Carolina in the censuses of 1790-1810 were descended from unions or marriages between free white women and enslaved or free African or African-American men in colonial Virginia. Because the mothers were free, their children were born free. Such mixed-race families migrated along with their European-American neighbors into the frontier of North Carolina. As the flow of indentured laborers slackened because of improving economic conditions in Britain, the colony was short on labor and imported more slaves. It followed Virginia in increasing its controls on slavery, which became a racial caste of the foreign Africans. The economy's growth and prosperity were based on slave labor, devoted first to the production of tobacco. The oppressive and brutal experiences of slaves and poor whites led to their using escape, violent resistance, and theft of food and other goods in order to survive. the question to be asked "who was the slave traders of early 1800's …? 150 years after COLSTON !
BRAVO Nigel Farage ...he could have embellished it more. On here many of us has already given a big to the BBC
1. I have said a million times that no one is wiping anyone from history. If anything we are preserving it if we keep his statue in M-Shed as suggested. 2. You've actually just said that slaves from the 17th/18th centuries were LUCKY to be enslaved. You've actually just said that. If I've reached the point where I'm arguing against people who genuinely think the BBC are actually biased towards the left and that slaves were lucky to be enslaved then I think we've reached new depths on here .
I nearly posted a comment about the scenes at the Nike store in Oxford Street on Monday. But felt I'd be branded a racist just for pointing out the difference in well ordered queues around the rest of the country. There - I've said it. Cue.... RP is a racist.
And now this. Seriously, what is the matter with some people ????? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-53089528
It is wholly unsavoury. We all know historic sites have been vandalized. Another piece of Bristol's history was dumped in the Docks. The starting point for these events occurred linearly from Black Lives Matter protests onwards. Events in this chain have been praised, described as beautiful poetry by left leaning Mayors, justified .. A way of influencing a predictable future is for left leaning Mayors, protest groups, political parties, trade Unions stating collectively these acts are all criminal, all wrong and all shall be punished equally, and for the good of the nation its time to stop.
Not by me mate, I'm probably considered to be racist on here with the belief that Colstons statue should have remained where it was, with a plaque of his history....seems like racist is wrong but vandalism, ignoring social distancing in a pandemic when it suits and deleting Bristol's historic past is fine...
Bristol's elected mayor Marvin Rees appealed for people not to go down the route of "tit-for-tat" attacks. ………. hypocrite
OK, something else I have to admit. I'm uncomfortable with the act of 'taking a knee'. Banged to rights - racist.
that's where a problem lies you spin things using inaccurate contexts to make it into or cover your argument … WHAT I SAID WAS ……………. I never said slaves were lucky, had I wished to cover the general population I would have stated " some or most slaves were fortunate" [ I cannot state their luck or or lack of that is an individual thing ] ...
I don't agree with it either and much less when sports people are doing it. I think it's going down a dangerous path and is for appeasement and subjugation purposes only. But I'm probably also in the minority who hasn't been applauding the NHS due to the treatment (or distinct lack of) that my Mother in Law has been receiving from the BRI and from local Doctors and Nurses ever since the start of lockdown when she was originally admitted, as it's been absolutely disgraceful on every level imaginable. These people are simply incompetent. And while we're here I also object to queuing at a supermarket for up to an hour while NHS staff of all types waltz up to the door and go straight in when they please. I know I'm going to hell for these comments, but there you go.
