I remember some years back, challenging an HR team in reference to Mental Health. The response face to face that I got was in so many words, that recognition is only starting out, much how in the same way challenging racism started out, so in brief, decades behind. Where am I going with this....even if our mental health was recognised on anywhere near the same level, I wouldn't want people to take the knee, having to take the knee demonstrates a complete and utter failure of the system. I know, I get it, that's why they are doing it, but I don't want to know you know it's wrong, I already fooking well know it's wrong, the sufferers of it have been telling you for years. All I want is people to recognise it, rather than being an afterthought such as during the Covid crisis. However, if taking the kneee helps people, than good luck to them I say, I certainly don't have any objection to it. Which while on the topic, brings me to Marcus Rashford, there's a little concerning suspicion in me, suggesting that Marcus was listened to over school dinners by Boris because he was....add your own narrative here. And I'd even go as far as to say, Dominic Cummings was behind it. All good perfect timing in the world of politics, or maybe I'm just a cynic.

I’ve been amazed at the level of fume that the PL players wearing BLM on their backs and taking the knee has created in some quarters on social media. “I turned it off’, “I’m not watching this”, “I’m cancelling my Sky subscription”, “the PL can **** off” etc etc etc ad infinitum. Not all of the accounts are the usual types you’d expect to post this kind of stuff either, I just don’t get it.
It makes them feel better aba having a boring, pointless existence in a perfectly reasonable and successful western nation. This applies to both British white and black people. FOMO - fear of missing out.
I'm not gonna pretend I actually know, I don't think anyone can summarise everyones opinion on this. I think the marches have been counter productive. Instead of highlighting white privilege in America I think many in Britain have instead began to feel Black privilege is a thing here and it's caused a major rift. Look at this thread alone, the narrative has swung, I think nationally its a very similar response.
Or maybe, just maybe, they feel as though they want to support the cause, as they agree with the message. We seem to live in an age now where if you support the idea we should welcome genuine refugees, you have no right to do so unless you let them live in your spare room. Or if you think deprived kids should be ensured a decent meal a day, you should pay for them yourself. Otherwise you’re a ‘virtue signaller’. What a time to be alive.
I still join in singing "Happy Birthday" to nephews, nieces etc, which I have always found to be a bit cringy ... but not doing so would make me feel more of a self centred, precious, **** ... if I was still playing footie now, with black lads on my team, or in opposition, I'd have absolutely no problem in taking the knee to show that I recognise the issue and that black people have my support to change something that it still a problem in society.... that I might feel a bit of a twat doing it, is something I can happily suppress in the grand scale of things

Aye, but no one is asking anyone to do that. What these people were getting so upset about was BLM being on the shirts and the players themselves, taking the knee. If they’re not supportive of the cause then that’s their choice, but getting upset about it being a thing? Don’t get it.
It shouldn't be a new one. Its been heavily implied for a while that people believe this to be the case. You've never heard someone remark that black people can't be racist? Some are using it as tongue in cheek remarks, but I think @Spurlock has made that implication very clear. But I tag him so he can say its bullshit if I'm misreading him.
