Not really much point is there? Anyone who reads it and identifies with it all has already made their mind up. But I'll give my view.

For me, it's about context. I have sympathy with some of the points raised, I don't think we should change parts of our own culture just to avoid offence to other religions for example (unless there’s a consensus that time is right for change) ... if they live here they should respect our heritage. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be sympathetic to the needs of others ...which is what most of the points are examples of. It should be possible to have a multicultural society with tolerance.

Do i get annoyed at times where we're seemingly so politically correct it appears we're bending over backwards to avoid offending those who sometimes seem to be looking for things to be offended by? yes I do. Do I think immigrants should do their best to integrate, learn our language, appreciate or understand our traditions? Ideally Yes. Do I understand why in the real world that doesn't always happen? Yes.

However, I'm white, a skin tone that makes up most of the country, I don't ever feel marginalised because of my colour or race or religion or nationality, so I have no need to form any kind of institution to support my rights or celebrate my ethnicity. Why would I need to or want to? So the reason why people would think a 'white and proud of it' type of movement might be racist is because of who would it attract.

I am proud to be british, and in 'british' I include all colours, creeds, religions. One of the things I'm proud of is that we are largely an open society that embraces other cultures... I should emphasise ‘largely’.

So, I wouldn't be proud to celebrate being white because I don’t give a hoot about the colour of my skin ... and that would send a message that I do.

As for the question about whether there are racists among every creed and colour? Of course there are.

    Spot on.

Ironically, I'm really quite jealous of any skin colour apart from white, as I need factor 50 under a 60w bulb! :)

Seriously though, I don't believe it's the actual colour of people's skin that is the real issue. Many people in the Med area have much darker skin than many people purporting to be black, and yet we don't hear complaints about their treatment from them.

Did you see the story about the guy in his 70s who went missing in Zante last year? Went to visit a monastery on the mountain outside Argassi and never came back, all sorts of searches including mountain rescue teams from Wales but no sign of remains, suggestions now of foul play & third party involvement from his family.

When #BLM in the U.K. stated that there is systemic racism in this country the nation was confused. Confused because this nation had fought so many prejudices including Fascists, communist, racist apartheid, ultra far right, ultra far left, anti-women’s votes.
We now have equal opportunities for all races, equal opportunities for all ages.
We ended xenophobia and joined the EU in 1973 only twenty eight years after World War Two ended.
The sheer volume of Aid money that we give to non-white countries is amongst the highest in the world!
The abolitionists of slavery were white Christian British and American men! No nation has ever questioned the morality of slavery apart from Western culture. Where does this understanding of morality come from? Perhaps it’s six thousand years of written history. From the Hebrews being enslaved by Egyptians to Africans being enslaved by the Ottoman Empire to Europeans being enslaved by the Barbary slave trade.
Through the collection of history, philosophy, psychology and human rights laws we as a British nation were able to be reasoned with through a process called Western education!
William Wilberforce stopped two-thirds of the slave trade and made it unprofitable. Unfortunately slavery has mutated. This mutation doesn’t discriminate against gender or colour! From nail bars to brothels. From child pornography to sex slavery. Most recent form of slavery is Vietnam victims being traded in Europe for forced labour.
Something that the western world continues to fight.
Immigrants continue to come to this country in the tens of thousands and continue to apply for green cards in the US because the alternative is poverty, slavery and genocide. We are dealing with immigrants running away from homosexual persecution or ethnic cleansing or criminal gangs from the Middle East or Africa as a whole. This Great Nation has nothing to fear from racism guilt or 170 year old slavery guilt. We do not go around looking at pictures of Adolf Hitler and start to hate Germans. We do not look at Benito Mussolini and hate all Italians. We do not look at Hideki Tojo and hate all Japanese. These dead, inanimate statues or paintings or flags do not cause us to demand the eradication of history or compensation for what happened before we were even born! #BLM in this country has truly exposed their personal prejudices against the school teachers who lovingly guided and educated them to a point that they were able to attend University and get top honours. This nation has paid million for the training of a wonderful Olympic team. From Mo Farah who is now Sir Mohamed Farah to Jessica Ennis-Hill who is now Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill. The list goes on!
Dina Asher-Smith, Katarina Mary Johnson-Thompson, Denise Lewis, OBE,
Dame Kelly Holmes, Nicola Adams OBE, Linford Cicero Christie OBE, Kezie Uchechukwu Duru Akabusi, MBE, Christine Ijeoma Ohuruogu, MBE and Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua, OBE!
We have all watched as Lewis Hamilton never once refused to race for Mercedes Benz despite the company having a history of Jewish slave labour during the Second World War or refuse to have Hugo Boss on his race uniform because of Hugo Boss manufacturing of Nazi uniforms. Blaming current Germans or Italians or Japanese for what happened 75 years ago is a clear sign of prejudice, self-centredness and narcissistic behaviour!
To accuse the British public for what happened over 170 years ago is racist! To enjoy the benefits of Western education, human rights and financial security and use abusive guilt tripping language only spells out prejudices towards the very white individuals who helped shape this current great nation. This is not ignorant behaviour due to lack of knowledge from not having spent time physically in Africa or Asia.
This is years of systemic envy, greed and lust towards those who produce. All these emotions lead to hate and that then leads to racial and fascist propaganda.
The British public has a right to keep their history, good or bad. British people should not have their history erased or national flag removed or national anthem changed because of racist individuals pretending to be “oppressed or disenfranchised” because they have never received what years of media has promised them. All lives matter to all families under our sovereign laws!

Had to laugh when I read this. It seems that at Floyd's funeral they played "Amazing Grace", a hymn that was written by one John Newton, who had been a slave trader before other things. Someone didn't do their homework.

Wakey, you don't really get it do you. It's not going to a profitable discussion to try and dissuade you of your view and so I wont try. You make some good points above but let me make one point, remember the British people you talk about in the last paragraph are all those who rightly live in the UK.

He did see the light in later life. He was born in Wapping and so would perhaps have been, had they existed then, a Millwall supporter.

Millwall have always existed, its just that the rest of the world were too slow to recognise class and quality when it was shoved up their noses. :emoticon-0173-middl <party> :emoticon-0165-muscl

Admittedly I did not read your whole article, but please be informed that Britain invented and implemented Apartheid.

“While aboard the ship Greyhound, Newton gained notoriety as being one of the most profane men the captain had ever met. In a culture where sailors habitually swore, Newton was admonished several times for not only using the worst words the captain had ever heard, but creating new ones to exceed the limits of verbal debauchery.”

Sounds like a model Millwoe fan!

If you don’t know the significance of that song to the black community in the USA then you're the one that has not done your homework.

Yes, it’s unfortunate that 90% of them give the rest a bad name, eh?

That’s a joke, so keep your pants on.

Cops know it’s a dangerous job when they sign up, sorry, not sorry.

It’s a dangerous job everywhere. A detective had his firearm taken from him last night outside police station and shot dead. Of course if it was in the USA it would be on every world news bulletin. Doubt the poor man will get a mention outside of Ireland
