Don't think Arsenal will get anything from the game. Are we expecting the game to be played at 100% or do you reckon clubs will be easing themselves in for the first few games at least? Preseason intensity?
arsenal have to go full pelt, surely? City could probably operate at 80% and still win easily. Famous last words Very few clubs will have no urgency imo. Regarding LFC; I want this wrapped up quickly in case the bloody virus spikes again. I’m sure Klopp will go hell for leather.
Nobody will be match fit so I would expect caution. That said, some teams are just fitter anyway. I saw the 'who ate all the pies ' pictures of Kane and DeBruyne and there will be lots of players in similar shape I would imagine. There's always been a gulf in fitness levels. Ours all look fit. I'm expecting less intensity to start and then pick it up.
It feels almost like the first game of a new season isn't it? Who knows what each team will be like or hope they'll perform etc.
Completely tainted. Travelling to rivals grounds is such an essential component of the competition that away goals are worth more.
Good point. May as well make them one leg rounds at a neutral venue. They won't of course, more money to be made over two legs what with contractual obligations etc
Have you watched any Bundesliga since it returned? I haven't watched much but my impression is that they started out with a fair amount of intensity and have steadily progressed. I'm expecting the PL to be pretty similar.
The final round of 16 may still be played at the home team's grounds. Unusual times call for unusual measures. Yes it is about money but it always has been.
