Can you name any other country that has needed to fine more than 1,200,000 of its residents during the pandemic?

It doesn't help when you follow what you think is going to be the message only to find that Johnson has changed tune after being shamed across across the whole of the media. That is the big problem with being a sheep.

If that is the case then the reason might be that their lockdown rules were stricter than other countries - it is, of course, harder to break those rules in a country where the lockdown rules were lax anyway like in the UK.

Anyone on this forum: "The UK government have made a bit of a dogs dinner of such and such and so and so..."

SH: "oh look - France!" (Macron, Germany, Romanians, Labour Party, pretty much anyone else... ring as appropriate)

All utterly futile and probably why hardly anyone bothers to turn up here anymore, even those of a like minded bent to SH.

They don't turn up because the majority bleat the same old nonsense like sheep. You might as well just post the Guardian front page very day.

The government has said that they are paying £900,000 to have a RAF plane painted in national colours for Johnson to use when he goes on official trips. As there is an English company doing this sort of work at Chateauroux airport it seems a bit on the expensive side. Just searched for a cost of a repaint job and came up with this.
"A 777 paint job can cost $100,000 to $200,000, depending on the number of colors involved, and a smaller Airbus A320 can cost $50,000 or more."
Taking the top figure of $200,000 which is £160,000 at today"s exchange rate, who has got this contract?

It could just be that some Conservative inclined posters steer clear of these threads because they don't want to be on the same side as yourself SH. A point worth considering ! This has nothing to do with what side of the fence a poster is on - if a poster is continually trying to wind up, or denegrate all posters who do not see the World in his way - or completely changes the subject when asked direct questions, then posters of all political persuasions are going to find better things to do with their time. The next time you think that any text is 'nonsense' try tackling it head on and try to prove why you think it so - this is what debating is all about.

Other right of centre posters have tried to engage in debates but have been met with abuse from the herd. We have a particular problem on this forum, it is unrepresented in both party politics and the Brexit issue.

This thread has nothing to do with either party politics or Brexit yet you manage to bring up both subjects with predictable regularity. It is about the Corona virus and how the present government of the UK is dealing with it.

Of course it is not limited to the UK government but all of the posters on here are British and it is, therefore, the government we would spend most time talking about. We can naturally look at how other governments have dealt with the crisis, but Britain doesn't do very well if we draw comparisons. If I criticize the government I am doing it because they are the government encharged with dealing with this crisis, not because they are Tories - I have no idea what a Labour government would have done in this situation and don't waste time thinking about it because that isn't the case. If a right wing government such as that of Austria deals well with this crisis (and they have) then I am prepared to praise them for it - just as the left of centre Swedish government have made an almighty cock up of it. So, for me, this thing isn't political and doesn't have anything to do with right vs left, which you are so obsessed with. The fact is that the British government firstly followed the advice of building 'herd immunity', secondly they introduced a lockdown far later than most other countries and are relaxing it far earlier. Can you get away from your party politics and honestly put your hand on your heart and say they have dealt with this crisis well ?

We need to reinstate the political thread and the Brexit one so we can celebrate the forthcoming 'Freedom Day' at the end of the year.

I repeat, It is far too early to evaluate the pandemic until it is well and truly over.
