Surely that depends significantly on how well known the player is?

To an extent I suppose but it’d be all over Twitter, which would create a lesser known player more known I suspect.

Then you’ll have the magazine deal offers and the Pride pieces. I just don’t think it’ll be something quiet.

The ironic truth is, when/if players do 'come out', there'll be an almighty fuss on this very board.

    Depends.

if an opposing player chooses to come out by writing some kind of coming out message on his t shirt which he reveals when he scores against us, you bet there will be.

    I’ve not being paying attention

Is this one of those threads where everyone agrees about the important thing (that consenting adults can have sex with whoever they like and it’s no better or worse if they happen to be the same sex), but we all argue about the unimportant stuff anyway (how much press there will be when something that shouldn’t matter, but will be made to matter to sell newspapers, is reported) ?

Just checking before I chip in

    Cheers

When I was younger, me and a mate were driving home late at night. Pissing it down with rain. We see this bloke walking down the side of a big busy A road so stop and see what he’s about, turns out he’d been working on an oil rig and had ‘decided to surprise his missus’ who was camping at a camp site on the edge of the village we were living in at the time.

We both immediately smelt a rat, so we have him a lift down there then sat and waited in the car park to eavesdrop.

Turned out his missus was down there with some other bloke and by the sound of it he caught them square in the act.

Poor sod but better than any night time tv, excluding perhaps babestation.

I think that's rather disingenuous of you. There's a clear issue with homophobia in male sports that needs to be eradicated so people can feel comfortable being themselves in public or in private.

Looking at the title of this thread, and our attendances this season, we must have 6-7 in our team?

when I was training as an accountant a gay guy joined in the year after me
nobody around our ages (20s and 30s) was bothered but it was obvious that the managers in their 50s and 60s didnt like it

it's not a problem with homophobia
fans will use anything to get at a player whether it affects them or not - ginger/fat/wife having an affair

Exactly and that's what it is, banter. I've been told to 'Fack off back up Narf, you northern scum' several times on virtual every time I have gone past Watford to watch City. Not to mention the condescending, 'we pay you benefits, smackheads, cod head, there's a strong smell of fish around here etc etc etc'
I've forgotten all the names and chants about sexuality, size, hair, facial features, weight, clothes, and so on because it goes with the territory and you/we give as much as back as you receive.
But being working class and coming from Hull supporting Hull City doesn't win you many favours when visiting other cities to support your team and I don't expect a warm hand shake either and I don't get offended and go running to a steward, copper or the press whimpering about it.
    It's football and it's life.
    Just get on with it.

Don't count me in with 'everybody' sakko - footballers, like celebrities aren't on my radar. I watch them play football, their private lives? I honestly don't give a **** mate.

If it's been on BBC news, I might have heard it, unless it was a Scunny or GY player then I might have read it in the weekly rag - if I have, it hasn't registered.

    PS Don't bother enlightening me

Practically everybody reads about player's private lives whether they are obsessed about them or not
