I tend to agree with Swarbs. We've a tendency to be wasteful with our chance conversion. We, if we finished better would have 5 wins out of 6. Is this got to with the side still needing to gel? I thought that to begin with, but I changed my opinion that its not that, that would be too easy an excuse. I realised the problem is a lack of leadership. With Gerrard returning and being an influence on the pitch although not necessarily a vocal one, the vocal thing is not his thing, thats Carra, Carra is the voice and the organiser, Stevie leads by example. If we had been more ruthless and converted more of our chances against Wolves, we would have been out of sight at half time instead of holding onto a one goal advantage. We could also have put the game to bed in the 2nd half with those chances we missed. Overall the chance conversion needs to improve.
Would we have been able to afford his wages? He earns £197k a week. Although it seems like a good idea on paper, it would cause mumerous problems in other areas like Gerrard and Suarez getting huge pay-rises. All our good work in reducing our wage bill would be for nothing if we had to increase a number of players wages. There is two reasons why Adebayor is with Spurs, City don't consider them a rival and Man City are paying a near 75% of his wages. There is more chance of Wayne Rooney getting a standing ovation from the KOP than there is of Adebayor being a Spurs player next season.
The most worrying stat is the second half table. We are 4th best in first half but 13th best in second half. We've had some poor second halves so far. Not surprised by the shooting some of the finishing has been poor. More shooting practise methinks
That is more telling since we have yet to have any comeback victories like in a while. IMO the initial focus is to improve on our passing accuracy as well as our chance conversion. Others will follow suit. If Gerrard can get a good run in the team as well as Carroll improving form wise those numbers will definitely change
