I just think that where ever there is a majority/minority society there will be things like prejudice and racism. Been the same all over the world for centuries. If a white fella walked into a predominantly black bar he would risk being a victim of racism......and vice versa. For the first time there is a concerted effort for this to be wiped out but goings on over the past few weeks have been a stumbling block more than a help. Racism will never be totally wiped out and will take numerous more generations of knocking of heads together in order for it to be kept to a minimum.

I seem to recall a comedy programme with Asian comedians who did a sketch about "going for an English" in reference to behaviour in Asian Restaurants. I assume they will have to come out now and apologise for any offence it may have caused?

I posted something relating to the issue of blackface several pages back

    In the case of
Google: 'what is wrong with blackface?'

Some influencers and US college students painted themselves in an act of intended empathy and committed an enormous faux pas

'I'm being discriminated against' has become a comfort blanket to a degree and I suspect some black people use it as a crutch to avoid pulling their weight in society.

As I mentioned previously I worked the doors in Nottingham and at one time for an outfit who called themselves 'The Darkies'.

The other main door company was the Baileys who were white.

Both employed white doormen and black doormen.

If I refused entry to a white lad I'd get abuse.

If a black colleague refused a white lad he'd get abuse.

If I refused a black lad I'd almost always be accused of racism.

I'd ask a black colleague to adjudicate and, if he refused entry, would be accused of being an Uncle Tom.

They never once thought that wearing gang colours, arriving en masse or smoking a joint might 'prejudice' their suitability.

    Thick as pigshit tbh.

Had a quick google and it is for the reasons I expected. Negative historical racial stereotyping. Still think that the line between traditional black facing (just wrong) and the events which are being frowned upon today is majorly thick. Heres hoping in the not too distant future that a person can have harmless fun dressing up as a person of different race without it causing offence.

It's historical and an ugly form of cultural appropriation - there's more to it than a big set of lips. In the near or distant future it will never be appropriate

“Give me the blandest thing on the menu!”
It was Goodness Gracious Me. There was a family called The Coopers who pretended they were English.

    Thanks for the show title.

I assume I have to be outraged now? Might have to google to see what the rules of outrage I have to follow first though

The Kumars did one of a white person in a a police station ran by Asians.
Discussing his bruises he 'acquired' while in custody
    - Well they drink don't they?
    - Yes that explains it!
... or something to that effect

    Ridiculous isn’t it?
It’s comedy ffs, some folks sense of humour has been taken over by political correctness.

Dont understand it. Maybe cos I come from an area where you just dont see black people, cant grasp their point of view........maybe cos as white?
Come to think of it, I cant remember off the top of my head having any sort of face to face conversation with a black person within the confines of this country. Ive had no black friends, not had any single black child from nursery right through to college, no black teachers, no black work colleagues. I'll have to come back to you on this one.

EDIT : Even when playing football for my local team. No black teammates. Cant remember a single black opponent locally either. I remember we went on one of those football trips away, to Ayr, a national football competition. We were shocked when we turned up against a team who were 90% black. I remember thinking '**** me, these look the business.' They were.

As I say to people I deal with, especially at domestics, “You can’t expect me to turn up and resolve in minutes something that has taken years to get to this point.”
Racial inequality is pretty much the same thing. It’s taken centuries to get to this stage. The solution to it may take just as long.

White people relentlessly mock, abuse and insult each other as a form of humour ...

... it's how people get through boring jobs and world wars.

Stand up comedians assault whichever town they're in and the people who live there.

When I take the kids to the Nottingham Christmas panto they not only do that but ransack anyone who's 'come on a horse and cart from Mansfield'.

The only time I've ever been offended was when they picked on Derby one year.

Is that not one of the problems though mate, people seem to have lost their sense of humour and have to be offended by something.

I work with a Welsh lad and we both take the piss out of each others nationality and countries. I assume some people would see that as racist and in the strictest terms it is, but there has to be a degree of common sense.

Its the same as the argument that people of colour tend to be poorer, well there are plenty of white people that are poor, plenty of all colours that use the benefits system and don't want to work. You mentioned the fruit picking jobs earlier and I have to agree with you, if you are that desperate to get out of poverty then take that job, take any job and fight your way up.

My son is a manager at the Royal Mail and has endless 'disciplinaries' because of 'offensive comments' made to a Romanian, Pole, Jamaican, Jock, whoever.

But its not been reported by those involved ....

... it's by people who've 'been offended on their behalf' and reported it meaning my son has to get the victim and the offender in to comply with company regulations.

The two lads invariably discuss the offence for 30 seconds then start talking about football and insult each others teams.

The same thing has happened on this thread where people start speaking on behalf of BLM, Joshua, blacks, etc, after deciding they know best.
