Nice lot, eh? Totally ****ed it up for everyone else and left a ton of litter and rubbish everywhere ..... this country has had it ....
600,000 job losses and counting. Millions of people are going to lose their jobs over this. This virus is gonna have lasting effects for years. Mental.
There are 4.5 million employed in hospitality alone. Estimates are up to 50% job losses could come in that sector. I think by the end of the year we could see unemployment in the 4-5 million range. This is what happens when you base a country's economy on selling each other burgers.
I agree our economy is so skewed to buying/selling stuff people would like to have rather than need, but whatever we produce or add value too has tobe fufilling a requirement, and when we get back to (new) normal those requirments will reappear, which means new businesses will pop up to replace those that go under because of the pandemic. Whether these new businesses will employ the same number of people is probably unlikely. The economy is already in flux, what with Brexshit, and the downturn in oil and aviation it will take visionaries to make a success. In the meantime the disaster capitalists are raking it in.
I emailed the Shadow Secretary for the DWP, more than a week ago, suggesting that he pushes to get the state pension retirement age, temporarily, moved back to 65, to try and free up jobs. I haven’t even had a response yet. But further to my above suggestion, he could push for a compromise position on the WASPI women, and ask for a retirement age of, maybe 62/63 years, and free up another bunch of jobs, especially if they make the early payments conditional on stopping work, in all cases.
There you go again St B, using common sense and logic. No place for that amongst the current incumbents who put the 'í' in inept, joined the 'w' to ⚓️ and chocolate to starfish.
They got exemptions from quarantine to visit a grieving parent, who has now been put in isolation. From now on, anyone claiming exemption will be tested first.
