Doubtful as I presume the testing would have been done pre-friendly. Though surely it would make sense for results to be back prior to competing in a contact sport?
Could go either way really. Bag one here and he could get a few before the end of the season. Miss a few here and he might be back to square one sadly
I don’t get the 15 minute thing either. Sounds the same as the 5 second rule when you drop food on the floor, when in reality it has bacteria on it in microseconds. I also thought that tests don’t necessarily show up positive as soon as you have caught the virus. There can be a period of days where you have it, but tests would show up as negative. It’s no surprise that their priority continues to be, do whatever it takes to stretch the rules in order to play football, rather than following the rules the rest of us have to follow in order to try and prevent further unnecessary spread. All who have been in contact should have to isolate until sufficient time has taken for the virus to show up in tests if they did catch It from their infected team mate. And if he was involved in the Spurs friendly, same goes for their squad etc.
that’s not quite true. Biscuits, cakes, chocolate and a juicy piece of steak don’t attract bacteria immediately. vegetables do before they even hit the floor. Possibly
Had the 15 minute rule explained recently. I’m almost OK with that in terms of the Spurs team, but surely the Norwich players team mates must be in the frame. Under track and trace they’d be required to self-isolate for 14 days. Anxiety levels among Saints players will be high. Complete confusion will reign if the game takes place.
I'd piss myself if the game got called off Not gonna happen though, suspect the PL would rather see a team of kids than that. Integrity of the league n all that.
You are quite right. The tests have a sensitivity level, below which they can’t detect the virus. When someone is infected it takes a number of days, different from person to person, but at least a week, before the virus has multiplied in the body enough to be detectable. So testing a contact on the same day as someone else tests positive for the first time is futile, misleading, and irresponsible. Anyone who is in contact with someone testing positive should isolate for 7 days and only then get tested, unless they start displaying symptoms before that. The 2 metre rule is based on statistical analysis of cases, but as with any statistical formula, there will always be outliers. A tiny number of people have probably caught the virus from passing fleetingly more than 2 metres from someone, but because they are very few in number, they don’t show up in the statistical analysis. Didn’t stop them catching it though.
Absolutely, but I would rather nobody catches the virus as a result. As I explained above, same-day testing of contacts of people who test positive is dangerously misleading and irresponsible.
It's possible to think both. I dont agree with starting the season right now, but I am looking forward to watching some football again.
That's fair enough but I don't see why you would keep on crucifying the PL over the decision to resume if you plan on watching it. That's not aimed at you btw, just airing my views in general.
I think I may stand away from the keyboard for a while as the irresponsibility of this all may cause my to get more unlikes than likes. PS not shooting the messenger Tom
Wouldn’t it be terrible if the whole Spurs squad were to, um...? Nope, I shouldn’t go there really. That’s a very bad thought... @The Ides of March , sorry mate, the devil made me say it.
Compared with thousands marching in London and raves in various cities, controlled football matches are small fry, so I have no difficulty being hypocritical because I want to watch sport.
Maybe they saw the actions and justifications of Cummings and the PL and got a false sense of security; it was alright for them.
