https://www.skysports.com/watch/vid...360/newcastle-too-strong-for-hull-in-friendly It's barely worth sitting through the adverts for to be honest, but that's the goals. Looks like a bit of huffing and puffing going on
Just watched on Sky. We are absolute garbage at defending. Tom Eaves, 6 ft whatever of 'powder puff'. And with Mackenzie at right back, we are 'vulnerable'. Hey ho, I was starting to feel a bit excited. Back to earth.
Bit of an quandary is Tom Eaves. From what I have seen he scores a few goals at times but it ends there for me. That said whilst he’s not on his own in terms of the finished article ...expectations shouldn’t be too high perhaps and same goes for the rest. As for our defending if we had a big strong back four I doubt we would be conceding the way we do but then again...if we had decent owners I doubt Eaves and the rest would be here.
He came from League 1 and this is his first proper full Championship season, I don't think he's done that badly. I wasn't expecting him to smash in 20 goals, none of our strikers seem to these days, but I like him and I think when we play to his strengths, he's a very handy option. Certainly more so than Magennis on his own.
Hard to tell from that clip but were any of our regular centre halves playing? I didn't spot any. Eaves shouldn't have had to defend that in the first place.
https://www.hullcitytigers.com/the-tigers-team-up-with-show-racism-the-red-card/ Get a cardboard cut out of yourself at the game for £20 with half of that money going g to charity.
It’s not just about Eaves though is it. When you look at our squad it wreaks of frailties and injury prone players. It was held together by Bowen and Grosicki doing more damage at one end than what was being done at the other...sometimes. The effects of both of those leaving are now plain to see and to brutally honest arguing about Eaves is testament to how far the club has fallen and will continue to fall until new buyers are found.
I like Eaves as a player and I think he will come good. How do any players at our club have any chance when the squad is changing massively every window. Whoever plays in defence we invariably still concede goals. We concede from open play and set pieces, I have never seen such incompetence at defending set pieces. It’s not even like they learn from mistakes, we seem to always get undone by the same or very similar passages of play. I do expect League one football next season and a squad full of league one/two players. I’m not signing up to the £10 a match deal, I’ve enjoyed not being arsed about football over the last 2-3 months.
Agree about not learning from mistakes. That’s down to the manager and staff cos if they cannot learn and take onboard simple marking instructions what the hell are they doing here? This was why I got particularly pised off when Atkins walked away as he seemed to get more out of the squad Bowen and Turbo including of course. All a bit Depressing really...and we ain’t kicked off yet.
Haven't seen anything of yesterday's game but surely if Pennington and Lichaj are fit we won't start with Mackenzie?
First goal: Macdonald goes for the initial ball, McKenzie routed to the spot and Eaves beaten far too easily by his man who scores. Second goal: Macdonald goes up for the ball, their attacker tries a bicycle kick and both miss the ball, it then runs free and McKenzie is too slow to react and their player beats him easily to score. Macdonald tried a last ditch attempt to block, but didn't quite make it. People are saying it's Burke, but looks like Macdonald to me - looks like he's wearing No.15 which is Macdonald's number.
The first goal showed George commanding his six yard area like he usually does . I think if we lose to Charlton and go into the bottom 3 ,, then we get relegated . The Charlton game is a must not lose , but a win would be great confidence boost . Come on City show some balls.
