Happy with long on the bench but would prefer Che. Think Long is great in the team for moral and drawing attention away from ings for the big games. For a team fighting relegation i think its a great chance for Che to get a goal and go out on attack against a team who will not be happy playing for a draw.
I was a bit hesitant about giving long an extention as i feel Obafemi is growing into a similar role but with everything going on and the likelihood of minimal activity in the transfer market it makes sense. Just hope he is still not one of the top earners.(basing this on online estimates rather then fact)
I hope Adams sees this as the start of a new season for him I would have thought the friendly line up points to Obafemi starting up front with Ings for this one (but would prefer Adams) I would expect it to be: McCarthy KWP Stephens Bednarek Bertrand Armstrong JWP Hojbjerg Redmond Ings Obafemi Gunn, Valery, Vestegraard, Danso, Boufal, Romeu, Smallbone, Adams, Long (Or Tella/N'Lundulu if not fit)
In all seriousness, how does the track & trace strategy now apply to the Norwich team, as they would have presumably all been in close contact this week?
They also played a friendly vs Spurs yesterday, I understand. (Whether this player played though?...) I presume they'll be one further round of testing before Friday (the testing seems to be about twice a week). If a handful more Norwich players/staff test positive then, it would have to put Friday in massive doubt. And maybe more than that.
As I understand it, clubs have specifically designed training to fit around the track-and-trace rules. Namely that to be a contact you have to have been within 2m for 15 mins.... most clubs are doing e.g. set piece training for 10 mins followed by a break, or something else. Players will be wearing GPS vests (or similar) that can demonstrate they are not within 2m for 15m periods so as to avoid losing the whole squad to isolation. As suggested above, further action would only be taken IF other players then test positive
Any idea who the player in question is? Presumably they will be in self-isolation for the game on Friday.
Norwich are keeping it quiet for now. But inevitably it will come out. After all, with a 20 man matchday squad to name on Friday, if it's a player anywhere slightly close to the first team, it'll become pretty obvious then if not already announced before. There was also one other positive result. But we don't even know the club, or if a player or staff, let alone their identity.
I have never understood that 15 minutes thing. Does that come from the government or from WHO? Surely it takes just one breath to inhale the virus spores, and that could be the first one you take when in contact with them. Unless we all have a coronavirus spore deflecting aura, that turns off after 15 minutes, rendering us vulnerable.
