Just heard from my uncle, they fancy Arklow strongly in the feature at Churchill tonight, will put him in a double with Been Studying Her. 13/8 & 9/4
This isn't one of those I've heard word for....the very thing you detest. Well done today on beating the odds .
Pathetic effort from Florence Camille there. My heart sank a bit when I saw her because she seemed small and unimposing compared to Aidan's fillies. Snow had been well held and limited in ability as a 2YO and her two runs last season were rated 55 and 62 on Racing Post ratings. With the three times 6th placed runner up Salsa in the mix today, you have to question what the hell the other Irish trainers are doing when they cannot lay a glove on horses rated less than 70 coming into a contest. Florence Camille has run like a horse who belongs in sellers and claimers today, rather than a daughter of Galileo.
Snow is on my 3yo list, 2 eye catching runs down the field last season, the latter behind the impressive Peaceful, and being a full sister to Kew Gardens she was always going to need a trip this year, thought 10f would have been sharp enough so only had a score on late when she was solid in the market. please log in to view this image
safe to say the lads were on Lancaster House there, was scratching my head as to why on earth it was fav to beat Speak In Colours over 7f, now I know why they have absolute carte blanche
I assume the horse is named after the town in Wicklow, Edouard, or would my assumption be a big cock up...
if thats in ireland id say your probably right, the syndicate is called Donegal Racing, most of the names have an Irish element to them
Albigna was well backed but never looked like scoring. Hard to understand how she was 2/1 last night and went off 6/5 today with no evidence that her chance had increased by one atom since then. A lesson for us all not to get involved at the wrong price. Peaceful pissed up but I doubt it was anywhere near as good as Love was in the Newmarket race. We will see in due course. Fancy Blue has run a cracker. For me it was never going to be enough of a test for her today and surely she ran as if a step up in trip was a matter of urgency. I thought So Wonderful was a good each way shout and she managed a place. It's hard to get away from the notion that Albigna had this race at her mercy and has patently failed to run anywhere near her form from last season. Aidan is the kiddy and other Irish trainers are pretty much pretending to offer any resistance to the juggernaut that mops up the home Group 1 races on most occasions. Bollocks.
It is. It's the County just South of Dublin and just North of me, Wicklow itself is known as the garden County, very pretty place... Arklow not so much. Good luck with your Stateside bets and fair play on the other winners today as well. No doubt Dominos being hit hard tonight
With Love Epsom bound, the Coronation looks on a plate for Peaceful, you wouldnt be too worried about a Galileo backing up after 7 days and she will be a short price id imagine when they get round to pricing up that race.
Arklow is a working town , used to go there on ships , whereas wicklow county is as you say , more rural ! Have cycled a couple of times around eire , camping wherever , had a great time ,stayed away from the bigger places though . I’d guess it may have changed a bit since the last time i did that mind , 1998 !
Yes, I'm not too far away from any of the above mentioned. Although, in saying that, you're never far away from anywhere in Ireland really. Glendalough is one of the most beautiful natural areas you are likely to see around here, well worth a visit if you are over again.
stayed in annamoe for a week , in the back of rosies tea rooms , i’m sure they’ve gone now , their neighbour was john boorman , whom was given short shrift when trying to nab some of the access to the field they kept sheep . Visited rathdrum where there was a bookie and the Cartoon Inn ! A grand little area all right sth , i’ll have to return and sample the delights again !!!
Brutal run at the hedge for Arklow with a weakening horse hanging into him, beat a head. Apparently 2 people were waiting on it for it big money, sickner.
Was a poor run alright, feared that could happen going down the home stretch first time, an unlucky loser.
Franconia is as low as 8/1 for the Oaks but Gosden explained that she is a highly strung filly and that they should probably take their time with her, rather than go straight in at the deep end. The trainer seemed keen on going to the Musidora next and in our cocked up season that traditional Oaks trial is being run after the Classic this year. Fancy Blue is also as short as 8/1 for the Oaks but I am not totally convinced she will want another half mile. I have her at big odds ante-post in the Oaks based on the probability that she might start at 10F this season and perhaps get the 12F at Epsom but I am not so sure now. 8/1 is certainly well short. Albigna ran at least a stone below form today and finished behind a 97 rated filly. For me it is a race to treat with caution and the third home So Wonderful remains a maiden after nine starts now. Dermot Weld is now zero from his last 43 runners and John Oxx is zero from his last 55 runners.
