I would say about a third of people live or work in Dublin or the surrounding areas which meant the it was the main part effected. Not sure would this have anything to do with the short timeframe though. The border counties with the North were quite badly effected too. No idea was that because of less stringent rules there or just a coincidence. I think generally people seemed to take the lockdown a bit more seriously here than in Britain. There were much clearer guidelines to follow given. Also we didn't have major events and pubs etc were closed quickly thankfully. Our death/population was one of the highest still though. There is also a worry that we are letting things open up a bit quickly as there are still cases every day. A letter signed by 1000 professors/scientists (although some of them that would be a loose label for) urged the government to scale back the opening up of the country.

    “Pubs closed quickly in Ireland.”

Cheltenham would have caused a lot of cases here too with the amount that would have went over. Was lunacy letting that go ahead

Great seeing pictures of the return of rugby to New Zealand. Packed stands, everyone on the pitch giving 100% in the most contacting of contact sports, and zero fear of infection, as NZ hasn’t had an active Covid-19 case for 3 weeks.

There is hope of normality returning. Maybe not here, maybe not for ages, but someday.

Our own government did nothing to stop people going over it make any attempt to quarantine people coming back. This an the balls they made of controlling it in nursing homes is unforgivable really
