Last night's sack race odds were 2nd. Bruce, 3rd. Wenger and 4th. Moyes. If either Wenger or Moyes become available we might not want O'Neill. I don't know about Wenger, but I think a jobless Moyes would come here.
Bruce has got to go NOW!He has weakened our squad, signed too many sub-standard players,is inept tactically, hasn't filled the positions that need filled etc.We must get shot of him,and give our club as long as possible to put things right to stave-off relegation.
Calm. Spot on mate. A year ago we started the season with a forward line of Jones and Bent. Now we have Bendtner (a loanee) Sausage'n'onion a youth from Suffolk and a young Korean. Anyone who can see progress there needs to consult a doctor and soon. He has changed personnel and has his own team. We get worse. Fewer goals and worse results. Some people would stick with him all the way to the Beazer Homes League. Time for him to **** off. I can't believe he's still in the job.
MASSIVE game on Saturday. I honestly think a defeat and he'll be gone. But I think we will win it and everything will be hunky again for Mr Bruce. (for the next few weeks anyway).
now then Brother Bald...couldn't agree more mate. His sell by date has come and gone. As Sunderland fans we all know what a relegation team looks like. Last night, I was watching one. Get someone in NOW who can turn this around.
Greetings Brother Flanders Indeed that is exactly what a relegation team looks like. We should know as we've seen more of those than owt else over the years eh? It's bad enough having no effective forward line, but when you have a manager removing the only player capable of delivering any ball of reasonable quality to the forwards then you are sunk. He's beyond wit and reason now. He really is.
I cannot agree that we should get rid of Bruce, at this time. Yes, last night's performance wasn't the best, to say the least. However, if you look at our performances, overall, I don't think things are as bad as some make out. And, to say last night's performance is that of a relegation team is bordering on ridiculous. Like any team, barring the top 3, or 4, all teams will have periods, during the season, where performances are not up to the mark. I also think we also need to understand the reality of our situation. We are not, yet in the higher echelons of the Premier League - if only. If we finish, again, in the top half of the league, I think represents success, at this stage of our "magic carpet ride." One more win would have put us in a mid table position. So, I cannot entertain all this talk of relegation, especially at this early stage of the season. There will be people saying we should be aiming higher but I think we all need to analyze our situation and realize that stability, and staying in the Premier League must be the order of the day. Yes, I would love to be challenging for Europe but, at this, stage of our journey, that's not realistic. As I've said before, let's support Bruce now & see where we are at Christmas. Fair enough we might be in dire straits but, maybe, things might be a whole lot better than they seem at the moment. Time please!
It's not ridiculous to say that last night's performance was a relegation one. If you think that a single goal from games against Norwich, Brighton and Swansea isn't relegation fayre then you are seriously deluding yourself. We've won twice at home since the New Year man. What constitutes relegation form to you?
Bald there will still be fans in denial as they dont want to think the awful reality could be true. However, those of us who have sadly seen 5 or 6 relegation's recognise the look of the team, morale, manager looking lost, desperate decisions and the attacks on the press and fans for not being happy. Bruce is a canny bloke who has just found out with SAFC that he is a Palace, Huddersfield or Wigan manager not a bigger club. We are hardly Man Utd but we are bigger than Wigan, Palace and Huddersfield and we are too big for Bruce.
Here speaketh the mag voice of reason - now you can go forth and multiply, you s a c k o f s h i t Bart
Your coming from where I was a few weeks ago Barry but I just don't think we are going to achieve mid table at the present rate. I was very much looking forward to this season as I thought we had made some very good signings but I think a few of our players are not as good as we imagined. Saying that my view in not set in stone, if we show a big improvement it coming games and keep it up then I will be supportive again but it will take massive improvement. I am praying to god that its just a matter of the team needing time to gel and we will rapidly improve and move up the league. The evidence in front of me is not lending itself to that outcome however, the team just has no balance in its present set up.
I, too have, seen my fair share of relegations in my 40 years of attending matches but experience tells me that kneejerk reactions are not the way. It's done us no favours in the past. Again, remember Peter Reid. I seem to remember similar relegation comments in February and March. Did we go down? A simple answer - no! It's not a case of attempting to ignore reality, it's just doing the sensible thing of allowing time.
I hear what your saying Barry but it's the results from 2011 as a whole that are worrying most people I think. If you look at the year as a whole I don't think it kneejerk. I am no rabid Bruce out man but when you see the same mistakes repeated over and over it begins to smack of arrogance, an inability to admit mistakes and take the proper measures to rectify them. As i have said, I really hope he gets it sorted out and we fly up the league, if not, we need something else, I could not handle the mag wumming if we went down or finished just above relegation
i agree with you that we did ok for the first 15 minutes but we were clearly playing for the draw as we didnt attack at all and were just happy to pass it about the defence and midfield and most of the time to norwich but what boils my p*** is his substitutions!!! Why wait until the 68th minute when he should of hauled off elmo and ricco as soon as they scored the 2nd and gone 343 rather than 442 and playing a striker (ji) left wing when the kid couldnt cross for toffee especially when he had the kid mcclean on the bench and didnt even give him a go. Bruce has to go he has now lost the majority of fans and we will be lucky to have 30k plus on saturday
Were starting to sound like "skunkettes"......we must give him to christmas........then out if were anywhere near the relegation zone.........who the hell are we going to attract in his place?......serious reasoned arguments pleased not based on the fantastical thinking of our more northern dirtier rivals!
I'm in neither the BoB or BiB camp, but am certainly not wanting a change in manager at this time. I reckon BarryDunn said quite a few things I agree with about past relegations (45 years of my support includes a few!!) and although I don't know the stats - BlackCatSteve can you supply? - the number of early season manager changes v number of relegations, I have this horrendous memory of Cpl Wilko and how that turned out. SB is not the best manager ever, there are faults there that I've recognised and have real concerns about, BUT, and this is the thing, shipping him out now brings absolutely NO GUARANTEE of improved performances. I'll support SAFC, and everybody who contributes. At the end of the season I'm happy for a change if it is either necessary or deemed necessary by the board.
@ chimrera if we wait until xmas and we happen to be in the relegation zone before we sack bruce who the hell will want to come to us then as it seems hard enough to attract people to the northeast
