They'll prolly be deleting most of them from the archives as we speak, sadly. Might be ok if they were overdubbed. Oh dear, did I say overdubbed? I meant overwritten.

"Ohhhh" Matron would now have to be "Excuse me, Senior Nursing person". <yikes>
"Carry on Cowboy" would need to be "Carry on Cowperson". <yikes>

Without being argumentative, it might be that it's just not relevant anymore. a generational thing. Showed one of the carry-on films to my 18 yer old (carry-on matron I think). He didn't` laugh once, called me an old ****, never even heard of a 'matron' (didn't bother explaining what a 'cowboy' was). And now basically bribing him so he doesn't reveal to his mates what an old ****er of a dad he's got <laugh>

Relevant or not, there's no sell by date to films or sit coms. I watched Laurel and Hardy as a kid and that was filmed way before my time. My lads still piss themselves watching Love thy Neighbour and that was way before their time. If they want to ban **** get rid of things like Love Island. <ok>

But there is a sell by date, my kids think the carry-ons are **** (I thought laurel and hardy was crap actually). I think love island is ****, the world moves on.

Laurel and Hardy were/are Legends. <yikes> While I'm still alive the films etc that I watched from childhood to now IMO there is no sell by date. Personally I couldn't give a **** what my kids think of my taste in films/comedies. But that's just me. Anyway the point is that they shouldn't ban films or remove them just because someone thinks that they're dated.<ok>

Agree that films shouldn’t be banned. Disagree that anything is / are legends because we like or remember them. You like laurel and hardy, don’t find them funny at all. Doesn’t make either of us right, just we may find that different things make us laugh

Still on tv on one of the channels, seen most of them over lockdown, and still better than repeats of judge Judy.

Laurel and Hardy = legends. Never dated and make me laugh to this despite me having seen the episodes many times

As in musical tastes it's all subjective. Without meaning to harp on about Laurel and Hardy(I appreciate that you don't like them) but a lot of well informed people in the industry and professional comics call them Legends and the fact that their boxsets are still out on the market and still selling speaks volumes. But I take your point. I agree that over years some films and comedies will look dated, but irrespective of what year they were made, there are still classics out there(ok you mighten enjoy them) and others might. But I don't agree with films being re edited because it might offend a certain race. I mean the Jews as far as I know didn't object to Schindler's list and other films about the holocaust. It's about History, the good and the bad. Anyway rant over.<ok>

Very much an age thing that. When growing up I never enjoyed fools and horses first time around. Twenty years later I grew to live it and have now watched most episodes numerous times. Same for me with vicar of dibley. I think people’s sense of humour change so much or mature, whatever yo like to call it. Stuff like police academy films, that many find hilarious don’t even make me smile

Cheers Lee, I thought it was just me. Abbott and Costello was another duo back in the day who I found funny and as a kid I think they were on BBC2 on Sat mornings..<ok>
