I agree with the OP to an extent. When I was growing up I maybe went to 2 or 3 games a season and I was buzzing for at least a week before the match and generally wouldnt sleep the night before. The while experience was class the journey over watching the players warm up and then the match itself. Nowadays I'm a season ticket holder and maybe its going more often that takes some of the gloss off it but I'm now in the camp of I go as I've nothing better to do. I've missed 4 home games this season after not missing a single 1 for 5 years and honestly wasn't bothered in the slightest about missing them. I don't know if its the club thats made me feel that way or if I'm just older now. Dont get me wrong when I'm at the game I enjoy it and get right into it but honestly these 3 months I ain't missed it at all. I'll be back again when we are allowed to go but in the mean time I wont particularly miss it.
Football is a huge part of my life and I miss the games massively. It doesn't rule my life like it used to but I can honestly say that having to give up my season ticket was one of the the biggest considerations I had when I decided to bite the bullet and move away from the region 8 years ago. I watch every sunderland game on the Internet and when we're not playing I go and watch the local non league team. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I honestly can't understand at all how people who post on a football forum day in day out can say they don't miss the footy!
All my mates mags so only time I go to match was if took nephew or went on my own. I havent missed it tbh as my weekends havent been as depressing with the usual kick in the balls. But I know next season I wont be there till they've gone but will still watch the match.
I haven't missed it, haven't missed any sports really. Which is odd because I normally watch a lot of it. I think with Sunderland in particular I just want Donald to **** off and to be able to look forward to something positive in the future and while we're stuck with him and his mates I'm finding it impossible to get hyped for anything.
It was on Premier Sport La Liga TV mate, channel 435. Valencia on tomorrow, Barca and Real Saturday. Decent.
By the amount of people I'm hearing that are withdrawing payments on season tickets, I fear that our club will not survive this..
Hopefully it focuses Donald's mind and he sells up quickly. I actually don't wish the guy any ill will, but he came in with the potential of a quick buck. That went tits up on extra time at Wembley last season. He simply hasn't got (and never has had) the means to run a club like Sunderland. I fear that the way to get him out is for as many not to renew season tickets as possible. It is risky tho, I do agree with that
With our history as a loss making club, even in the Premier League, buyers are not going to be queuing up.. They weren't even before this crisis.
Think that's what most are holiding on to. Season card money is massive in the third division. In the Prem it's a pittance in relative terms. But in our division, fans provide majority of the club income. Ellis Short is a twat of a bloke the way he ran us, but I don't think we'd have been in this bad a state with him running the club. At least he had the cash to sustain the club. That, in itself, frightens the life out of me!
I’m seeing lads of 30 years drop them mate, lads who can comfortably afford but refuse to entertain these clowns running the club. I can’t repeat to them anymore ‘our club, needs us’ message but the facts are, I also categorically understand why they’ve gone that route. It’s genuinely awful to see it happening.
I'll be renewing like. No matter who is in charge I couldn't see myself not renewing providing I can afford to do so.
I have missed watching sport, golf over in the states had just started again, it's on now. I like Rugby and cricket also...Aussie No Rules, even those funny games played in Ireland. I have been football and Sunderland crackers for 60 years, but the decline that we have suffered and a third year in a crap division, is really pissing me off. I will renew my season ticket, but I will not be rushing to games. I am appalled that the league fixtures are not being finished and that the richer clubs are not helping out the less well off...they could have had the lower league players tested at the same time as their players for instance. The football family, the beautiful game...it's a joke....football is a nasty dog eat dog spectacle
I’ve been enjoying the snooker Can’t wait for more games I will go back to the sol when it’s safe May I say the same as pubs only when I feel it’s safe But I am missing my holidays 2 cancelled already Again I will only go when it’s safe
I think we will be back in the Sol come this September. Late start to the season and I think the social distancing will be a thing of the past. Judging by the amount of people who have handed their tkts back we wont have to worry about it inside the ground.
Bought my new season card on Wed or i should say my brother did ! £415 east stand good, end seat so when will it start ? canot wait for the new season but with Peterborough in our division again.
