I was quietly confident after the first match that season!! Having said that, I do feel Pompey would find the Championship a struggle as much of the squad is of a League 1 standard, whereas SFC were playing with players of a much higher calibre in their League 1 promotion season.
PPG feels too much like fantasy football to me The season before Leicester won the premier league they went on a crazy winning streak right at the end of the season to survive relegation. PPG with 10 games to go would probably have relegated them. Which would have removed not only the great escape, but also them winning the league the next season! Football is unpredictable, that's the fun of it.
Having a bad memory is a bonus, when watching re-runs of matches from euro 2004, etc, as I haven’t got a clue what the score is going to be. Watched Sweden v England yesterday and didn’t have a clue that we would win 2-3. Currently watching Holland v Czech Republic. BBC 2 if anyone wants to watch, and they even have a little half time chat, giving us oldies a chance to empty the bladder without missing any footy.
Yeh, next Friday I should have been at Wembley for England's second game, possibly against Scotland, but instead I'll have to make do with Norwich-Saints in my living room
And see England fail so gloriously yet again. Until England develop the mindset and intelligent game plan of the Germans, I'm afraid England will continúe to be alsorans!!
Remember that 5-1 victory over Germany. I can’t remember how many times I watched those highlights. Magic. And if you are going to say that it didn’t matter in the end...you can just go and..... Basically you are just a misery pants. So there.
England have the capacity to put together a decent performance about once every 10 years. The Germans get the results without being brilliant at all. When it comes to international football, I cheer on the likes of México, Chile, USA as I would love these teams to turn over the big teams on a regular basis.
Sure it wasn't the WC, 2002? Apparently Strachan told Anders before the tournament that if he scored against England, he'd be spared pre-season training.
And it was on my 32nd Birthday When Owen got his hat trick, I am sure as he ran off he shouted "And Happy Birthday Mark". Or maybe I had been on the wine.
we beat Sweden 3-2 at Euro 2012. I think all our other finals games in recent years were draws. In 2002 we drew 1-1 with them.
