Good job that our manager is so well regarded by his club, then... We probably should've gone in for either him or Nzonzi in the summer. The latter might be available on loan from Roma, as he's currently out with Rennes, having flopped at Galatasaray. Worth the risk, in my opinion.
Their budget's reportedly been cut to the bone, presumably because during a time of pandemic nobody wants to drink something that simultaneously makes them feel like the skin on their face is itching, makes them highly temperamental, and brings about a violent bout of diarrhea ...brief check, are there any Belgian clubs owned by Stella Artois we can take advantage of?
An Argentinian journo called Nicolas Bozza is claiming Foyth will join Leeds on loan next season. I’m presuming that’s based on them being in the Prem otherwise a Championship loan wouldn’t make sense for him at this stage. If that were the case though, good move for him. Will give him a chance to hopefully shine in the Prem and give Jose something to think about going forward.
He's a real talent but he desperately needs some regular football to see if he can cut out the errors and poor decision making. . He's got 2 years left on his contract, so loaning him out is a bit of a gamble but his current value isn't that great because of his lack of games. All round, a loan is probably best...if we are going to sort out the right back slot.
I'd be happy for him to play a full season under Bielsa, even if they don't get promoted. Might be worth keeping an eye on Kalvin Phillips too, if they fail to reach the Premier League.
Yeah if Leeds somehow manage to **** up promotion yet again then Phillips will surely be snapped up. Same applies to Ollie Watkins at Brentford too. Ebere Eze is another, can't see QPR mounting a late promotion push and we were linked with him a lot under Poch and recently a rumour said Jose is also keen. I'd actually take all three at Spurs for what it's worth.
“ExWHUemployee” on Twitter (apparently a solid West Ham ITK according to some) is saying we’re interested in their young right back, Jeremy Ngakia. His contract runs out soon and has supposedly rejected their offer of £5k a week to stay. Palace also rumoured to be interested. Made his debut for them this year and has made made 4 league apps in total.
So let's see... -Plays RB -Counts as HG -Would royally **** off the Spammers Should I start a GoFundMe to help pay the hyperinflated compensation fee?
Surprised the Germans aren't in for him, given the trend of picking up English youth players and the fact that they'd pay virtually nothing.
Their fans seem pretty peeved at losing him too so it sounds like he’s well thought of which makes it that bit sweeter should we sign him. Many blaming the board for not offering him a good enough deal. Apparently he wants close to £20k a week, which in Prem terms these days is absolute peanuts. We paid Zeki Fryers that roughly a decade ago IIRC.
Why offer him £5k pw when he's already playing for your first team and you desperately need new fullbacks? Zabaleta's nearly 36, while Fredericks has been patchy at best.
Barcelona are looking at defenders from Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea who could be included in a potential swap deal for 27-year-old Brazil midfielder Philippe Coutinho. (Sport - in Spanish) If true...would you? And who? Let’s be realistic so no point offering Aurier Would be Sanchez I reckon...would give them Toby if they wanted but I value his experience...although I think he’s lost a bit of his game....either of these two, i reckon. Or maybe convince them that Foyth will do well in Spain?
Don’t see the point in offering Toby or Dave as part of a deal for a player who plays in a position we already are overstocked in. If we could somehow convince them to take Foyth...then again if we’re getting rid of the lad I’d rather sell him or take a loan fee and put the money towards addressing the real and more pressing problems we have at RB and DM. We already have two players who ideally want to play at 10 (Alli and GLC) and while Coutinho can also play from the left, we’re hardly short on quality there either. He should be very low down our list of summer priorities IMO.
Agree it isn’t a priority but i do think Coutinho has the capability to pull something out of the bag on a more frequent basis than Alli and more of a goal threat than both.
I’m not so sure. I don’t think he’s the same player he was at Liverpool tbh. Alli has (according to Wiki) 62 goals for Spurs and yes while a lot of them came in his first two seasons, since then he’s had to play different roles, Poch using him as a deeper midfielder for example, and having to fill in as a striker on occasion too. Coutinho has 68 goals in the same time frame but has generally played further forward, and mostly for teams who dominate their leagues in a way we don’t. Both players have 8 in 22 for their teams this year. I agree he’s more of a threat than Gio but GLC is more of an all round player, he gives us a lot playing deeper while carrying and passing the ball forward. He’s got fire in his belly too, which you need in this league to play CM and dominate games. Ultimately I think this comes down to whether people have given up on Alli or not. I haven’t, I think, but I know some people might advocate selling. For me the only circumstance it makes sense to look at Coutinho as a priority is if we sold Dele. I still think Dele can recapture his form here, especially if played behind Kane, and given he is also quite versatile in a pinch and counts as HG too, I’m in favour of sticking rather than twisting. Just my opinion though.
