    Wow ... what a twat...

Got an admission to make mind ... I did collect the Golliwogs from the back of Robertson Jam Jars as a kid in the 60s and sent off for the metal badge ... in my defence, I had absolutely no idea it was a representation of a black person ... unlike the twat above.<cheers>

The reason for the picture is that he was also ‘outraged’ by Robertson Jam removing the golliwog image from its jars. So much so, he decided to use a golliwog as the mascot for his election campaign.

Sort of tells its own story really <laugh>

Yeh I've thought about this before and maybe he just wasn't mentally strong enough to take that responsibility and should we judge him for that?

He was a global superstar, but still a human being underneath with his own insecurities to deal with. Having that condition along with the world judging him all the time and maybe most ppl in the same position would've thought about what was best for them.

I found him selfish. I remember speaking to a friend one time, regarding her very young child, who was being bullied at school for it, they were an Asian family, you can imagine the level of problems.

MJ could have helped so many people, and I hasten to add I don't totally accept his explanation regarding the make-up. You would need to use foundations for blending, his face clearly wasn't foundation, and there are no drugs for the condition. So I believe he was being rather economical with the truth.

Just in my opinion, he defo tried to turn himself white, I don't believe for one moment his condition was as bad has he portrays, but I do believe he clearly had mental health issues, but I don't accept that was solely due to vitiligo.

He would have been around 25 years old, when the condition became evident, the same year he started wearing his glove (1983).

What he may not have realised it's a mirror condition for want of the medical word. Which would suggest to me he wasn't the worse case condition. However, with his doctor and his mind, the condition fitted the excuses at the time....I'll leave you to work out, what I mean by that.

He was definitely turning himself white. Don't know the reason why for sure but I thought it could've been vitiligo.

What I was getting at earlier is that had he accepted his condition and did more to help those in a similar position, it would've been a very generous, brave and decent thing to do. But by not doing it, doesn't mean he was selfish. We shouldn't expect it of him, but commend him had he done it.

His mental issues were for all sorts of reasons. His dad, his fcked up showbiz upbringing, the kind of ppl he was surrounded by for most his life, being constantly in the public eye, no privacy, the lies spread about him and the possibility he may have had deviant sexual tendencies.

One thing about MJ, he brought up all sorts of moral dilemmas!

Absolutely mate, one thing we can agree on is his mental health would have been an over-riding factor, the only part we might differ is the impact vitiligo had. The condition as I suggested started around the age of 25, so he was certainly old enough to cope with it, whether his mind was mature enough is another matter. Some kids have to go through school with it, as I highlighted earlier, that's when it becomes traumatic.

Black or White was a good message, but I also feel it was part an opportunity missed, in the early days of the condition, he had chance to send a very loud message, we are all the same without pigment (melanin). Loud and proud, with the right guidance he could have conquered his anxieties of the condition, as a celebrity he had the power.

Completely trashes his legacy for me, he was without doubt a supremely talented world superstar, who was also mentally ****ed up.

However, he was also a prolific nonce.

Yeh the weight of evidence is just too much to say otherwise. I'll admit though there's a part of me that wants to believe he really was just a big kid with loads of money who treated it like a sleepover.

So if the minority go and forcefully impose their will on the majority they will get their way?
    Interesting.

Only the poll was merely a local newspaper poll, that only had 1100 respondents, and no doubt a certain demographic.

Compared to a petition to remove it with 11,000 signatures.

    So minority? No not really.........
