Real Saints fans as far as I know. Sir David Frost Craig David Tiff Needell Mike Osman Ed Chamberlain Will Champion Lucy Pinder Holly Valance Chris Packham Iwan Thomas Scott Mills
Blueshite fan, Macca. Or 'Toffee', as he called it. He told me that himself, and I've shamelessly dropped into every conversation when his name comes up. Do you want me to tell you the story (again)?
Lucy Pinder is from Winchester I believe. Think a few are from Soton but then I don't know who half of them are.
That's impressive considering in 2000 the Leicester University prospective had (I kid you not) as the three "famous people from Leicester" as Gary Lineker, Joseph Merrick and Adrian Mole. One famous for being hideously disfigured and the other being not only fictitious but also not from Leicester. Just like the University prospectus you have seemed fit to airbrush one of Leicesters greatest sons and supporters from history and as such I will add him here with his best friend:
The film (Adrian Mole) was shot in the house next door to my Uncle's in Braunstone and Beryl Reid would pop round to use the loo ... true story
You should let the Mercury know, it probably qualifies your uncle as being one of the most famous people in Leicester. Every so often we'd put on the local news and I recall laughing for a good 10 minutes about a headline news story that was essentially "real old greengrocer decides to retire". It was very Simpsons "cat plays with ball of string". There was another night the headline - for the city - was that the mayor was going to visit some place but was ill so couldn't, they sent a news crew to interview the people where he had been due to go to say why they would have liked to have met him. Pulitzer prize winning stuff.
