I didn't read any damning reviews until well after I made this thread this morning. As far as I'm aware it's only today where people have started commenting that he was poor. 5. Cabaye has played 6 and he's ****ing awesome, so I don't see your point. Whilst it isn't 100% proven of course, I've seen enough of Ben Arfa to know that he can, and is intended to be, the creative playmaker in our side, and boy I'm excited about that. Even in his 20 minutes against Blackburn he made some very selfless passes to set up a few goalscoring chances. Mind you, I think he's been overshadowed by Cabaye lately. I was only expecting us to have one real creative playmaker in our side in HBA, but now it seems like we have two. If it needs a whole season then I presume that you're currently ruling Sessegnon out of being any good? As well as plenty of your other new signings? I didn't think so. As I said, of course I don't know for sure yet. Just very confident, that's all.

Appearances 15, goals 3, assists 2. They don't strike me as stats of a player "who has only had one bad game since he joined the club." Could be put down to being out of position mind..
WHAT? did you see the Chelsea game? he was EVEN ****ING WORSE THAN HE WAS LAST NIGHT. He was so bad against Chelsea my eyes almost burst.
Spot on Chappaz. He's not performing, but he said HIMSELF 'i am not a striker'. He was superb against Stoke mind, and you lads saw in the derby what he's capable at when running at people at pace. Best player we've had for many a year, being wasted and having his confidence destroyed by inept management.
You really believe that? What is it about him that has convinced you he's THAT good? Is it his awful technique when striking a ball? Is it the horrible struck bobbly passes he gives to team mates? Is it that he can't see a pass unless it's right under his nose? Bent? Gyan? Bendtner? Welbeck? Brown? O'Shea? And that's just the obvious one. He was terrific against Stoke, no doubt about that, so how do we excuse Chelsea and Norwich? Is the poor little baby sad because his friend Gyan left him all alone?
He can run at pace and is fearless with the ball. He has natural balance and shape. He CAN finish, as demonstrated by 3 in 4 back end of last season and a succession of confidently taken pre-season goals. The players you list are unquestionably better in there 'specialist area', Sess is being hampered by being played in an unfamiliar and unsuitable role, IMO.
I'd actually wrote in my pervious post that Sessegnon is wonderfully balanced player who can go past players easily, but deleted it because i can't give the guy any credit at the minute. I think some people need to open their eyes and stop making excuses for him. People say he should be played on the left, but did anyone see how bad he was on the left against Chelsea? He is ideally suited to playing in the free role behind the striker, nobody can look at his abilities and deny that? That was his role against Stoke and in that game he was terrific. His body language is terrible and his effort yesterday was non existant. He moved over to the right at the end of the Chelsea game (or was it the Swansea game?) and picked up the ball in the ideal position to put in a cross with all the time and space he could want, he put just the most horribly struck cross in you can imagine. The ball came almost instantly back to him and he put in an identical cross, it was absolutely woeful, mate. So what is his position? Picking up the ball in advanced positions in time and space, that's what he wants to be doing. He was given that chance yesterday, just like the Stoke game, and failed miserably each and every time. That was not poor management. It was either a lack of ability or he just didn't give a ****. His movement is poor, never seems to come looking for the ball to make things happen. Never plays any good passes. You say he can finish? Then how comes he isn't thriving in this advanced role he's playing? He's mishit almost every shot and pass he's taken this season. Because someone has gone through a purple patch scoring a few goals, does that meen he can finish? There's plently of players worse than Sessegnon when on similar goal scoring runs. I'd say it would be better to look at said players technique to decide whether they're a good finisher.
I may well agree with that. Suppose we'll have to try him there to see if we can finally find his position. Actually, i think he'd be a success there, i really do. Not sure i'd be tempted to drop Gardner for him, though. Sessegnon hardly deserves a favour.
I fully agree that behind a strike PAIR is his best role, but he has been good on the left cutting in, the whole team was garbage vs Chelsea. He's a very gifted footballer, and it's a folly to pick anyone out when the team en-masse is a shower at the minute. There are far worse players in the side right now for sure.
This I also think there are not enough runs being made off him. Far too many of our players pass the ball then stand and watch, instead of making them selves available for a return pass. This is basic tactics.
I think that as soon as Bruce realises that Centre Back isn't his best position, and puts the lad in goal instead, we will see a marked improvement.
I think Sessegnon is a good player. Perhaps he is one of these players who needs a run of good games to get confidence. Saw him vs Liverpool and he looked very good.
