But hilarious if we could get any where near that for those two and would fund our purchases and improving the team and squad
In the first half of the season we looked like we were playing with a hangover. Confidence seemed to have evaporated when the season started. Ralph seemed to be unsure if we were able to play the system he wanted so we pissed away games with system changes like they were friendlies. It was really weird looking back. I’d love to know what was happening in the camp. Some of the games we looked like everyone had just met.
I think Ralph lost his wingman and was adjusting, when he settled on his best XI we were a completely different proposition.
I agree with you wholeheartedly, his team selection appeared to go absolutely insane once his no2 left but got back on track shortly after the Leicester debacle except for the continued problem of right back which he never really sorted out
Don't get me wrong, I don't want us to sell PEH. But unless he signs a new contract, we have little choice. To lose him on a free would be criminal. £50m (or more) for PEH and Vestergaard this summer would be fantastic. I don't for one moment expect us to get that, but if we did, wow. If the market does indeed deflate this summer - maybe not substantially so, but at least to pre-Neymar/Coutinho levels - then £50m could bring in some real quality at long last. Especially with Les and (the other) Ralph not around anymore. Three (or more) decent players brought in, to go with the likes of Ings, Redmond and JWP, and we'll be heading in the right direction again.
FFS everyone is skint and despite the completion of the season there will still be TV money to be repaid. Clubs are borrowing money or deferring wages to stay afloat. We are entering the new normal with very much lower levels of club spending. Don't forget the loss of gate money and club shop sales etc.. That will hit some clubs really hard.
But then the media will have no transfer rumours. I can't see them filling their rumours with free transfers from anxious free agents signing up on zero hour contracts with a tin of tuna thrown in for a goal bonus!
Southampton are planning contract talks with English left-back Ryan Bertrand, 30, amid mounting interest from Leicester.(Daily Mail)
I saw in the Mirror that Leicester were looking at him, if Chilwell goes. Doesn’t Brendan Rodgers know that there are other clubs to buy players from?
Cant see Leicester wanting to spend big money on a 30yo on big wages I can't see Ryan wanting to up root his family who have been settled down in a lovely part of the world and take them up t'north (Leicestershire is actually very nice)
I’ve worked in the area and have to agree that it is very nice. Plus it is home to Walkers Crisps, Melton Mowbray pork pies as well as Pukka Pies. Fat bloke’s paradise.
A report from the very same paper says they are after Max Clark, 24 from Vitesse Arnhem who is also a LB. They haven't even sold Chilwell yet, it's just gossip at this stage.
That's why it's a rumours thread. I'm sure we and others are looking at various options in a number of positions. NB Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story!
About as old as l feel today! Terrible week at work. Its late afternoon here in Saudi and have another 4 hours of meetings... ugh!
Well done on your weight loss. I have been vegetating and not going out at all, other than to run the car for 30/40 minutes once a week. I have, though, recently started to do a low impact aerobics session, that I found on YouTube. Early days but the shirt (yeah I’ve only got one shirt ) isn’t as tight as when I started 9 days ago.
