It's a shame, because I remember Slattery being highly thought of and putting in a few good performances for us when it looked like he was breaking into the first team. Whilst I'm on this trail of thought. Hesketh is another that looked like being our next breakthrough until injuries curtailed his career with us. I assumed we had sold him, but apparently he just keeps going out on loan.
A contender yes, and I agree he has been good for us. But I would have thought players talking of winning Champions League titles should stand out way ahead of the rest of the squad at clubs fighting relegation.
Imagine getting just shy of £60m for PEH and Vestegaard Edit: Only if the quoted post is in reference to Vestegaard to Leicester
PEH is better than people give him credit for. Mostly because he’s very smart (shooting opportunities just outside the box aside, he needs to cut that **** out) He’s also a great organiser in the pitch. It’s clear to see him directing traffic and reminding others of their positional priorities during transitions. I know people get on him for the long pass backs but that’s also a feature of RH’s instruction, it’s not him just lumping it back because he can’t think of anything better to do. If there’s no obvious and high percentage forward ball then the game is to get in shape, kick long and win a second ball or make the opposition play out from their third and force errors with the press. Without a great number of strong attackers from open play it’s a reasonable strategy and we’ve scored goals from those behaviours when otherwise it’s an ambitious forward pass from the centre of the pitch. That pass has a chance to be cut out and put our sloth-like defence under pressure. If he leaves then he needs replacing with a similar player, I don’t think it’s very easy to do that. Especially on a shoestring. He’s really an ideal RH player because he’s a good athlete and a good all rounder who follows instructions to the letter. I don’t know if that makes him a top six guy as that player doesn’t work for every team and certainly doesn’t become a standout, but he’s certainly an important one for us at the moment.
He's certainly better than he showed in the first half of this season which is what a lot of fans are judging him on.
