Joseph Conrad’s ‘Heart of Darkness’, the book that inspired the movie ‘Apocalypse Now’, was set in Leopold’s private fiefdom in The Congo. So when people say “they had different values back then”, it’s not entirely true. People knew right from wrong, it was just easier for the powerful to hide the truth and lie to the common people.
I tell you what happens, when an old white guy like you takes to the streets with Diego. Diego will be having a swastika engraved in his head, by that nutty woman, he thought he was going to shag. And your be getting arsed fooked by some young black guy, 30 years younger than you, and I'll guess his name will be Spurly jr. While Spurly senior looks on and says, I think this would be a good time, to talk about us Asians again Meanwhile white boy brb also took to the streets and was last seen up on a horse, groaping some brass tits in Coventry.
What could happen? A bunch of superannuated “football lads” are going to take to the streets, (but not til they’ve had at least 8 cans each)? Tommy gonna chain himself to Churchill’s statue is he? ****in hell Comm. You had a bad night there mate.
The Gammonball run from Sunderland to London - lost three quarters of the participants after the first 'Spoons they got to. They had to hire actresses to make the numbers up by time they got to London. #whiterage
Exactly, life then was a million miles from where we are today. I’d imagine all countries have their symbols/monuments of history it’s what made them what they are, their identity if you like. Most history is at an expense of others misery’s like the conquistadors in South America. We cannot change history only learn from it but our symbols and monuments are there as a constant reminder from hence we came. Not a bad thing in my book.
Considering I am not white, her nazi views would be pretty ****ing obvious cos she is a nazi...with nazi views...who hates non whites. Simple really.
All of whom were released cos they were lied about and set up....by the police...who were more interested in convictions than the justice for PC Blakelock. Just saying like. There is an excellent book called the Killing of PC Blakelock which details all of this...surprised you ain't read it tbf.
If it can't be condensed into a ****ing great headline in the Sun or The Express, with two paragraphs of randomly capitalised of gobbledegook interspersed with exclamation marks and pictures of gurning politicians, it just isn't going to get 'read' at all, so that's the end of that discussion.
What happens when a pair of old white fellas take to the streets, as they’re so upset about dem black folk getting uppity about slave trader statues? Hahahaha, you ****ing idiot.
Good point. Why don't we teach kids about Colonialism and the Slave trade in schools ? Why do we gloss over the fact that Churchill was responsible for the deaths of 4 million Bengalis ? You complain about 'denying history', but that's exactly what's been going on anyway.
Interesting to see how racism colours views about statues they've learnt zero history from until someone makes history by doing something to highlight what the person depicted did. This also ties into capitalist values. If someone donates generously then he is a good man to be remembered and put on a pedestal, regardless of the source of their wealth. I'd like to think this is the beginning of a re-evaluation of what makes a person good and worthy of being remembered. I doubt it though. please log in to view this image
The net is currently brimming with white blokes claiming that by removing slave trader statues it’s somehow uppity black folks wanting to erase history, when until the statue of Colston was rolled into the briny, the vast majority of them had no ****ing clue who he was, or what he was responsible for. They could have walked past that statue in the street and still not known who and what he was, but yeah erasing history that’s why they’re all so upset.............honest.
