It seems to keep being forgotten that there are white people joining in with these protests too. It's about equality, not black vs white. Too many people look at things in black and white (pardon the pun) these days when the truth most often lies in the middle ground imo.
it was 100s of years ago you numb ****... you call yourself clever, just refrain to accept that we can't be judged by the acts of those ****ing ages ago... I could bring up 9/11.. poll pot..AdI (AS @brb ) has already done....... there;s ****ing 1000s of instances about blacks being mistreat by non whites ffs.
I’ve said it about 4 ****in times tonight already that white people were taking that statue down but No! Comm wants to know why I, as an Asian man has got involved with it all
Why? All the most of the whites have kept out of it so far.. What do you think is gonna happen if it carries on?
I'm not sure what my original opinion on this statue in Bristol was honestly, I can't be bothered looking back. I will admit complete ignorance that statues of actual slave traders were ever erected in Britain, I had no idea there was one sitting in Bristol of all places and at first when I read the headlines I was quick to think "wow, bunch of young idiots getting violent." Now reading everything into it and taking in peoples opinions here I am disturbed that we have such things in Britain. Liverpool was a city I spent a tremendous amount of time in and is one that does a great job at educating people on its slave trade past, I've even been to the museum on it in the city and it was very enlightening. I don't care if this statue was removed, it probably should never have been erected in the first place. If it makes some white people uncomfortable, we can replace it with another white man who didn't support one of the worst things humanity has ever committed upon itself. I say, leave the statue where it is and erect a replacement, maybe put something in Bristol to educate people on this subject. I am against smashing up the statue and pretending it never existed, but I don't want it standing again.
At least we managed to collectively skip Fosse’s lecture on the previous page about his life in Lesta Good work lads
You'll read it ... you'll pretend not to, but you will ... and actually it's not about me ... I barely get a mention
Like someone suggested earlier...put a statue of a slave up, preferably being flogged...then Diego and Comm won’t forget the history of Bristol
We'd never heard of it big man..Had you? Surely such an activist anti slavery trader would have known...But you never mentioned it.
We deffo need something, cos statues are nice. Mix things up a bit, add a bit of culture. I ****in' hate it when cities put some abstract art **** up, like the banana dog, or some weird bird, or an owl made out of lobster shells.
