From our clubs own hero's only Dave Mackay and Jürgen Klinsmann can say that they were a success others such as Blanchflower, perryman, Hoddle and Ardiles are all examples that great players do not make great managers
I remember Arsenal's Terry Neill blarrned himself into the Spurs chair.....and a couple of seasons later we were in Div 2.
Pretty sure this bloke did alright too... please log in to view this image The kid on the left needed a bottomless chequebook to do the same
Well, there was a chap named Arthur Rowe who invented something called "Push and Run!." Good footballer in his day too!
Unfortunately,we had a player named Herbert Chapman who played 2 seasons for us and put Arsenal on the map as their manager. The swine!!!!
Macclesfield are upset with their treatment by the Football League: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52988026 They have a good point, in my opinion. Who thought that calculating Points Per Game after the reduction was a good idea? If they want to punish them with relegation, then just do it. Don't piss around and try to sneak it through.
It's like how, a few years ago, they didn't relegate Luton from League Two - but started them off on -30 points so they were effectively relegated before a ball was kicked, with their only hope being how Bournemouth and Rotherham both started the season on -17 points to give them a slim hope of reeling the two of them in
Apparently, the empty grounds has ticked off a German player. He was about to take a penalty his normal way but heard a German voice tell the goalie which way he took his penalties. So,overhearing it,he went the other way and his penalty was saved. "Damned empty stadiums!" said he!
Campbell didn't and doesn't get "big" jobs cos he is not trusted becsuse of his track record. People act like it was only us and that was cos he wanted trophies. But he lied to the gooners when he left them. They gave him a free transfer cos he asked to go abroad...then turned up at Portsmouth. Wenger famously commented that he didn't know that Portsmouth was across the Channel. When they went into financial meltdown he demanded his contract br paid up in full and left on a free. He rocked up at Notts County. They gave him a huge contract and when they melted down a few months later he demanded a huge payoff to leave on yet another free transfer. He returned to the goons and then to Newcastle. He has either lied to or bled clubs dry so it is hardly surprising that he is not trusted.
Hmm, I can't see any way that having both the NBA and MLS finish up their seasons at Disney World at the exact same time could possibly go horribly wrong...
