Pierre will play out the rest of this season. He's been training with the squad so he'll play. If he wasn't Ralph would have made him train on his own.
I genuinely wonder if he does. Imagine thinking that with a new baby on the way 35grand a week won’t go very far. I better start looking for more money. Mental. Not directed at you harry.
I get that...totally... its just it seems to be the kind of thing they say when negotiating a new contract/exit...
i found this last night in an old scrap book... I thought, “Poor old Kev... £3k/week” 1982 I look forward to reaching that myself... it’s only 38 years later and I’ve not even got that number in my sights!
I would be happy with that though I did wonder if Romney's days were numbered due to his lack of appearances and inability to press so high up the pitch.
He’s a squaddie for sure and I’m not convinced that he’s a great one. He had a real impact in a few games last season but I’m only talking 4. My gut feeling is that he’s been treading water since Puel and running the contract down with less than 100% effort.
I wouldn't say that personally, just don't think he's anywhere near mobile enough for the style Ralph wants to play.
Agree on Romeu, he's not quite the type of midfielder that fits what Ralph wants to do. BUT if PEH is leaving they may want to hold onto Romeu a little longer, even if it is as back up
Romeu is very useful for the games where the opposition are mean enough not to play out from the back for us to press by sitting in front of the back four providing a shield and mopping up the knock downs
Without having any ITK information whatsoever, I will make a complete guess that a new Romeu contract is because we can't afford too many new signings this summer and want to put funds towards starters rather than squad back-ups. E.G. CB, RB and a PEH replacement (if he goes).
Agree we need to keep Romeu - particularly if Pierre leaves (which seems likely). He does have a lot to offer. People forget that he was out of favour with Hughes but when Ralph came in he was one of the first names on the teamsheet and was an ever present for quite some time. His drop off in form in fans eyes I suspect is largely down to being in an out of the team.
Should never judge a book by it's cover, but i like the look of him from the clips (not SDRidder comments please!!). Seems quick, composed, good timing and loves a challenge. We could do with a bit of bite at the back!
He's Alive Saints Alive! People were worried about your whereabouts on other threads! Yes damn auto correct. Romeu's not Mitt.
