Why has it took a possible takeover of Newcastle United for all these things to start coming out. I bet they’re starting to wish they’d never bothered in the first place now!
the government has basically stepped in after speaking with the Saudis who've basically said " look mate can you have a word with your dumb pal over there "
They haven't just come out, the UK, US, EU etc have been pressing the Saudis for some time. Saudis ignored the lobbying, but, now that they want something (NUFC), they have to listen, as the offended parties have some leverage.
surely the Saudis will just say " look do you want the billions for weapons or shall we just **** off and get them elsewhere "? " sort this masters character out or I'll chop him up " hang up
We could quite possibly be discussing this thread for months chaps. Let’s strap ourselves in cause we are in for a **** ride. Nah honestly how Ashley is controlling his urge to slag off anyone is beyond me. That’s what’s making me think it’s still on. If he had a wiff of it failing on any grounds he would be shouting from the rooftops. He wants out. He has a buyer who can give him cash. He said he would only sell to someone who could take the club forward.
It seems to me that they're guilty so I don't see how they can pass. that's the thing... if they're guilty we're ****ed. ok it's stopped now , but it still happened
The way I see it Masters, is walking a tightrope. The PL can't sanction the takeover if the government says no. Just an opinion, but, as a large player in the world economy, I can't see the Saudis spiting themselves and others over what to all intents is a piddly deal to them economically. It depends how much they value what theyre getting on the global sports market, so its probably easier to conform otherwise. Get this matter sorted and then it's back in Marsters lap, unless some other ****ing thing comes up, which is entirely possible.
I think they'll just say **** this soon if they haven't already. Like you say it's just a little purchase for them it's no big deal, so they won't bend over backwards imo. I wouldn't I'd simply say ok then I would stop supplying the UK with oil and stop buying their weapons..
Yes he will. If the PL don’t apply their rules and procedures fairly then as a member he will be able to sue the PL.
I think the problem is that if it's failed it's failed for a genuine reason.... otherwise there's no way they would fail it.. I'm prepared for the worst, but merely hopeful for the result I want now. it's just not looking good.. I can't keep ignoring the reality and severity of this piracy issue
If the Saudis pull out they lose face. Especially to Qatar. That won't happen. The storm around this is just garbage. Utter garbage. The Saudis hold the power. If the Government starts poking that stick the Saudi's can threaten to pull out their economic investment in this country. Worse case scenario. They can also tell the PL to **** off and promote piracy to spite them. History tells you that they don't give a damn. They are only bothered about their own humiliation.
