If only we signed Pippo Inzaghi, we'd have the top five sewn up...

Does this mean our center forwards were on the dumb side and could have scored more goals?

No it's just another pointless statistic.

I don't know about dumb...but three out of the top four wouldn't have expended any effort whatsoever in moving away from the opposition's goalmouth.

I always found it odd that Defoe had a well-deserved reputation as a goal sniffer, but he had a horrible habit of starting so many of his runs half a second too early

For comparison's sake, while it was a different era so his stats won't be recorded, how often was Gary Lineker ever caught offside?
    Keane's ranked at 56

I could only find a list that went to 20. Do you have a link to a longer one?

Change the top left box to "All Seasons" and use the arrow on the bottom right to click through a couple of pages

The biggest surprise for me is that I can't find Ian Wright on there anywhere, even when I try searching by nationality

Keane was offside less times than Son? I don't think that they kept records early on, going by this.
No Wright and no Shearer? Mark Noble ahead of Andy Cole? Sessegnon already ahead of Kevin Phillips?
The accuracy of these figures is questionable, to say the least.

I always thought Bent was the worst. He always seemed to be on the goal line waiting for the goalie to drop it or the ball rebound to him. A lazy bugger but he did score a few.....somehow!

I liked the guy but it drove me nuts. Despite playing at the top level for a long time, he never addressed it.

If he had addressed that and learned to dink the ball when necessary, he'd have been playing at the highest of levels.

Apparently the world 400m champion Salwa Eid Naser has missed four anti-doping tests. She admits to missing "only" three but claims this is "normal". No it isn't. When will the authorities get the message that they are undermining the credibility of their sport by not coming down harder on these people. I suggest that three missed tests are treated exactly like a positive test and punished accordingly. Four tests is unforgivable. Maybe the third miss might get off on appeal if a family member died or something equally important, but that reason had better be really important and verifiable - or better still, don't let it get to a third miss. Maybe the odd person might suffer as a result, but I'd argue the whole sport suffers when, for example, the 100m is won by a twice banned drugs cheat. I really like athletics, but not as much as I would if I believed it is clean. I don't, and the authorities need to address issues they don't seem to be prepared to.

The obvious issue is that it gives the drug cheats an easy out, saying they were never suspended for failing a drug test so we should move on

Yes, Christine Ohuruogu, we're talking about you...

We currently have quite a lot of pinned threads.
I think that Club Watch can get unpinned when we're back to actually having football, but we'll keep an eye on things.

Points Per Game is still bullshit, though.
