Mob law in Bristol today. Colstons statue pulled down by left wing extremists. Bristol City's hooligan gang the CSF defended the Cenotaph.
Colstons statue has been thrown in the docks. City and Rovers fans now guarding the Cenotaph from attack from these anarchist loons.
“Left wing extremists” . Fair bloody play to them. No one was harmed, and it’s a name that symbolises the hardship BAME people have had to go through. Should never be celebrating him in the first place. Just saw Red Robin sharing the video on Facebook too . Needless to say I could guess his opinion on the matter.
That lot who pulled down the statue were screaming blue murder about Cummings spreading the virus. What were they doing today?
That statue should have been moved a long time ago. It's wrong for it to be destroyed and it's worrying that people think it's ok to rip down statues (but I do understand why they might want to). The statue is a reminder of a very unpleasant era of our past and shouldn't be glorified but neither should it be erased. The Hungarians have it spot on; they removed all the soviet era statues from Budapest in a controlled and orderly way and they are all in a special museum garden where you can see them. They are not revered or celebrated, just factual symbols of what happened during that period of their history. We should do something like that with the slavers.
Because there’s a difference between going out to protest centuries of black oppression versus breaking lockdown to take your wife out for the day.
They are left wing extremists. Using violence to break down a statue is extreme. If the statue was to be removed it should have been done so via democratic means. Left wing democrats accept that, the extremists do not. Football fans have been defending war memorials not only in Bristol but elsewhere (London and Plymouth) against protestors who would deface and damage them. These protestors are extreme. The protest's in this exceptional time is an example of extremism. I am not against protest (I have attended numerous protests) but would not attend one during the current crisis, or any gathering that does not observe social distancing. Doing so and risking the health of others particularly those I care for and support would be morally unacceptable and wholly irresponsible. These protestors clearly are not exercising the same caution or respecting the health of others in this Country.
if you don't think a lawless mob breaking down a statue and throwing it in the docks is extreme what is???
