Been the plan all along. “Let’s just let them **** it up themselves, then we can say it’s their own fault” We’ve been played and walked right into it. And now we can’t even go out and demonstrate. The bastards have very nearly won. I fear 2021 could be worse than this year .....
This is all true, but it's not what I meant. It should be a concern for any government, when large numbers of the people it is elected to represent, feel like second class citizens. The government should be paying attention to those legitimate concerns, whatever reservations you or I might have about the manner of the protests. Also, the right to protest is an important civil liberty. I personally wouldn't have taken part yesterday, whatever the cause, but I would have been gravely concerned had they not been allowed to go ahead. In fact I'll even go so far as to give the government and the police credit for the way the whole thing was handled.
Yep the guy is deluded. https://www.cityam.com/matt-hancock-says-government-made-no-mistakes-on-lockdown-timing/
Also when reading the comments part of what he said was edited out......apparently he said to only buy goods from black shop owners??? That’s racist in itself?
I think we should end all lockdown now. All furloughed staff forced back to work tomorrow. No science behind it at all. It's just that Mrs No7 has had me doing so much DIY/Gardening that I need a break and need her back at work. #Selfish
You would have some kernal of respect for them if they put their hands up and admitted they got it wrong. Extraordinary times and all that you might take a more lenient view on them.Although watching that Channel 4 documentary there was no reason for them to mess up quite so spectacularly. But even an acknowledgement of this would have gone some way to claiming that they are in touch with ordinary people but sadly it's not the case! The relaxing of the restrictions has been done slightly better over here in Ireland let's hope it works out. The messages we were getting were clear and less confused. There was a 5 stage roadmap that has got condensed now. They made a balls of it letting Italian rugby fans into the country for the postponed rugby match and had no restrictions on people going or coming back from Cheltenham. Their greatest failure has been in the care homes however that has caused untold damage. A very rosy narrative has been painted here about how we handled it, which looks good compared to countries either side of us but the stats speak for themselves, we had a really high death rate for population size
With such a low population density you’d have hoped to have done better but according to the stats you had a very short spike around a peak in cases on April 10 and a peak in deaths on April 24. Why do you think that was?
I have put my affairs in order and given children copies of my will. I now am waiting for the inevitable second wave which should hit in about six weeks time. The death toll as a consequence will inevitably hit over 100,000 and that is being optimistic. Meanwhile our self declared Churchillian leader plays tennis. Should I ever return to St Mary's there will be some very noticeable faces missing from around me. I can forgive bad luck but rank incompetence that leads to wasted lives is unforgivable.
Below is a link that shows how well organised the easing of lockdown has been in Spain, with different regions being at different levels of lockdown, depending on local infections etc. Very clear guidance, that we have lacked over here. https://ohmygoodguide.com/spain-reopening-plan-coronavirus-lockdown-easing/
