The player obviously wanted to come, he hasnt stopped gushing about Klopp and Liverpool for the last 3 months, so its obvious that the reason it looks like we are getting him instead is because FSG wouldn't cough up the Release clause fee, for whatever reason. Though as Zanj states, you cannot really diss FSG, even if you dont agree with them, since they have done a fantastic job with Liverpool since taking over.
Have they? I remember plenty of Kopites giving them stick for the perceived lack of spending prior to Klopps arrival. They made a very astute appointment in getting him, but he’s largely self funded his spending and their actual financial backing of him has been minimal. Personally I think they’ve been extremely fortunate tbh, it’s Klopp who deserves the credit for their rise, not FSG. Now they’ve not backed him due to fiscal pragmatism.
You may be right, they more or less have one title under their belt, we will see if they can sustain success with minimal financial backing. If they can, then you cannot argue that they will have done a great job, but it remains to be seen I guess.
We've not spent loads (in net terms) but we've have spent (a lot) very widely. I'd rather the latter than the former. Those complaining about our lack of spending are greedy ****s, or part of the Football Manager brigade
**** me - not often we agree about football... I was confident that we'd now be automatic challengers for the league for the next five-or-so seasons, based on our steady rise (be honest, we'd have won the league last season too in any normal year). I could see City falling back a bit under UEFA's scrutiny, and I could see Chelsea consolidating top four but not much as else as Abramovich seemed to be losing interest, and United will find out just how hard it is to keep trying to buy instant success as well. The pandemic has ****ed that. We need at least one marquee midfielder, imo, even if we keep Salah and, especially, Mane. But unless we sell, we ain't got the money: but the twist is that not everyone is in the same boat. UEFA and the FA are not going to turn down big money being pumped into the system that'll filter down, imo. We will struggle next season to be runaway leaders - I still think we'll be there, but City will be stronger, as will Chelsea. I'd have taken that when Klopp started off, but it's not the beginning of a dynasty that I thought we were entering back in January/February. Bastard virus.
There's no excuse that the whole ground has not been upgraded yet, none whatsoever. Zero, zilch, diddley. The best thing FSG have going for them is that they're not H&G. Wowzer.
Jesus, are people actually questioning the clubs transfer strategy? Not a single person can possibly do that can they?.... especially given that the transfer window hasn’t opened yet ffs. Madness.
Some people are never happy. If you gave them everything they demand, they'd still come up with something else.
I see no issue with questioning what's happening at the club and the descions they make. It's all part of being a supporter. Personally Werner at 50million is a ****ing steal, able to provide cover for all 3 forward positions and wont disappear to the African cup for a month. Obviously I'm not privy to the clubs descion making process and why they have baulked at the transfer, but I'll be ****ed if I'm not going to voice my opinion.
Doesn't work like that mate, you will be 2020 league champions, you are 2019 European and World Club champions.
Nice in rock cakes Last season is over now so no, not current unless you are desperate to cling on as long as possible
Apart from the fact that the ECL and WCC are now byonde date and are showing no sign of being played this year
