The vast majority of the British public will not accept a lowering of animal welfare standards. And substandard imports from America will not be welcome on our shelves. Human decency will win out in the end, regardless of what the Tories try to foist upon us. We've fought too hard and for too long to see our values disappear in the name of cheap trade.

There's nothing that can be done about it. They have a majority and will do for the next 4 years. It'll be too late to undo the damage done by then.

Nearly all fresh supermarket meat is British anyway I can't see it being financially viable importing it 1000s of miles.

 

Pandering to Trump and, by extension, forcing immoral goods on us could well be the undoing of this government. Many millions would rethink their political leanings if our animal welfare standards were to deteriorate.
