Before anyone starts, this isn't a dig or whatever. I just haven't actually watched any Sunderland matches (apart from the derby of course), so I have no idea unless I ask.

How is Sessegnon performing? Is he living up to the big expectations gained from his pre-season performances? I know he's currently playing in an unnatural position which I find kind of bonkers, but if he's moved back, do you think he could still be the creative powerhouse in the way Ben Arfa is to us?

PS: One more question too while I'm here. The original starting selection (pre-Stoke) didn't work out as planned, the new selection did against Stoke but seemed to give up the fight against Norwich, so now, what do you genuinely think the next step is for Bruce, and what sort of team would you personally put out next week taking everything into account? I'm presuming it would involve moving Sess back to his natural position where he can work his magic?

From what I've gathered, the midfielder who has been the bright spark in the last two games has been Vaughan.

He broke Leon Best's record last night of how many people can you kill in row Z in one match. <ok>

Still looks a good player though.

Looks poor, shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as HBA.

Doesn't look the player he was in pre-season, definitely shouldn't be put in the same sentence as HBA because he's actually playing and getting to grips with the league as opposed to hobbling all the way to the bank.

He is a good player who is perhaps short on confidence due to being played in an unfamiliar position..

Perfect description of the situation I'd suggest.

I'd disagree with that - he was poor last night but overall his performances have been good.
    ................

This is the 1st time that Bruce has been pissed off with the team performance imo, where previously he was ok with the performance just unhappy with the results (except drawing with Liverpool). I have no idea how bruce will react, or more importantly get the team to react now that he has publicly slammed them. Maybe this is the game we needed in order for Bruce to put his foot where it needs putting, and give the players a "ticking off".....

I don't think anyone can make a fair comparison between sess and Ben arfa as he still hasn't played more than a handful of games for you yet.

Sess looks good at times, poor at others. Maybe that is due to lack of confidence and being played out of position as was mentioned by the OP

Playing Sessegnon as a striker is such a waste it's unreal. I'd be fuming if Pardew played HBA right up-front, because while he has a lethal shooting foot on him at times, his real strength is his creative playmaker passing, his agility and his dribbling. That sort of stuff is wasted in anywhere other than the number 10 role.

Chaps. In what way is Ben Arfa a creative powerhouse exactly? Remind of again how many EPL games if has actually played for your lot?

You can quote it in minutes if you want to make the number bigger.

When he has put in a full season of good creative powerhouse performances, I'll listen. Until that time, giveowwa with the bull ****e eh?

Sessegnon was poor last night and his body language very bad. I'd stake a weeks wages that if will be the next high profile bail out in january. Norris McWirter has been consulted to see if Bruce is on for the world record of signing and losing the most top players in the shortest space of time.

I think Sess has been watching the Rugby in New Zealand.

Some of the shots last night would have put Jonny Wilkinson to shame!

Hmmmmm a thread about how is Sess doing (the night after he has received widespread bad press/damning reviews) claiming to not know how he is doing, sounds a touch like a hint of a wind up but i digress.

Hes played ok this season but being part of a disjointed team and being played out of position is not helping. Still one of our few genuinely classy players, so fingers xd he bangs in a couple against West Brom and gets going. More worrying then anything else hes letting my fantasy football team down!

you obviously haven't seen him very much, he's by far our most creative player but had an absolute nightmare last night, even the very best players has these. Don't judge him on 1 performance marra

The lad's played one really bad game since April. He's admittedly not as good as I think he can be because he's being played out of position. We had the same crack with Muntari last season - he did play CM for Inter, sure, but he was also dropped there. When he played on the LW for Ghana against England, we saw him sparkle. For Muntari at CM last year, read Sess at striker this year. Get the kid out on the wing and let's see him sparkle. He's very fast, very clever and we should be playing to his strengths.
