Will our whining whinging manager be using his telly time to bleat about the well deserved stick he has taken from the media? AGAIN! Instead of complaining of hysteria in the media do you think there is a chance he may actually talk about the football, or lack of it on the pitch? Explain his reasoning behind his **** tactics? Answer valid questions about his substitutions? I was on the phone to a cockney mate whilst fishing last week, we were talking football. He is a Spud and mentioned in passing about Bruce's time on TV always being him crying about the nasty media picking on him, and coming over as a right tosser. Not a good view to put out to the rest of football IMHO!
Well it has been a bit of hysteria imo - if we had beat the Mags there would have much less of a reaction to Bruce's recent struggles. Did you not see Bruce's interview? the man slammed the team performance - no mention of media or other. Besides, you think it might be well deserved, not every has to agree though. His tactics and substitutions havent changed since the beginning of last season, though his players have, when we were flying high. Bruce has had other things to deal with that have been detrimental to his success (though he has finished higher up the league in every season so far). Bent and Gyan (especially Gyan) dropped him in it. How many points might we have got if Gyan hadnt been a greedy ****er and him and bendtner were playing up front? I am sure Bruce's ideas for the season took a big blow when Gyan left with the transfer window already closed. Now I am not blind, I know Bruce is in trouble (see the article I posted today) but his points about the media, agents etc have been spot on. Anyway, he might be talking about more than the media, but the media might not the showing the rest..... they can show whatever they want.
I looked up peons: its primary usage is to describe laborers with little control over their employment conditions Not sure if that is an insult or not....
I just cringe when I listen to him on tv now. He can be critical of the players but he had the power to change a system that you could see wasn't working after 5 minutes. He just sat there and watched it happen then made ludicrous changes when thegame was already lost. We are woeful and I seriously fear for our place in the Premiership if this goes on much longer.
The media questioning his abilities as a manager after our performances over the last year (and beyond) are valid imho. Yet you defend him by stating "IF" we had beaten the Mags it would have been less! We didn't beat the Mags though did we? So therefore any questioning of his abilities is totally warranted. It was only media hysteria in Bruce's and his supporters eye's. Nope I didn't watch his interview turned over after the match when Neville was doing his analysis and said the possession stats may have been in Sunderlands favour but it was all wasted. He was so right!
With only 7 wins and 14 defeats in the last 26 games, is it any wonder he is under pressure now? He has failed to replace Bent despite having 6 months to find one; failed to address the fundamental weaknesses of the team; knew of Gyans intentions weeks ago but didn't act and these are his players, his tactics and his teams. Having had his fingers so badly burned over Bent, you'd have thought that when Gyan was talking of going in July, he would have made preparations for the inevitable. We were all talking about the speculation weeks ago and Bruce had 1st hand info. You can make as many excuses for our 9 month slump but the simple fact is that managers live and die by results. His are now some of the worst in decades since the turn of the year.
I may be mistaken but these highly paid money grabbers do sign contracts. Bruce could have said NO! You are needed here and you will go when the club says so! I would like him to do an interview and answer the question on every SAFC fans lips. "Why haven't you even made an attempt to cure our left side problems?"
iyho maybe, but I think other factors contributed to it a lot more than Bruce did/has done himself. Injuries, greedy bastards, not finding players we need last season and having to get them in on loan (can Bruce be blamed for that, if the right players arent available?) were all to blame last season. This season? 10 new players bedding in (at least they are ours this time), one greedy bastard dropping us and bruce in it... Does/can the media affect the fans by printing some stuff, but not others? Yes. is it happening with safc? I would say so (all the reports about him spending x amount for example, reports of bruce at the mag game - does anyone have any proof of that?). With my comments about the derby, i meant that one result can influence the opinion of many even though its overall importance (in terms of statistics) is low. If we had beat them, there would not be as many BoBs even though Bruce would have been the same manager with the same tactics and the same team.
Personally i only go off the mass media (papers/bbc sport/sky) but it didnt sound too much like he slammed the performance, or maybe as you stated it wasnt reported correctly. 2quotes from sky sports: "Today we had too many people that gave the ball away too cheaply, well for me anyway. "We made a rally towards the end, but we needed to score maybe a little earlier and then it might have been a bit different. But overall I'm slightly disappointed with it."
http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/9273423.Bruce_fumes_after_defeat/? ""You can't expect to win a game at this level with six or seven players playing well below their level" "but we can't hide away from the fact that we didn't play enough individually or as a team. Five or six players had an awful night." more in the article, but i cant be bothered copying it all
Yeah like i said mate it doesnt surprise me that the mass media can/have manipulated it to possibly enhance the pressure on Brucie/instigate a reaction, its just the "slightly dissapointed" with it that doesnt sit well with me.
aye, and its funny how the echo didnt quote him on saying the word "disappointed" at all... (not that I could see anyway)
Aye im assuming tho with the game being on Sky they wudov had their own individual interviews and not just a press conference so obviously their quotes may differ from other media outlets. Wudnt pay it any attention if it was on some random rubbish online football site but sky dont often misquote spesh if they covered the actual game.
I've now had enough of bruce,i was not looking at his ineptness as a manager i was blinded by the good signings he made for us,but i now believe it's time for him to go. I would now like a foreign manager. So here is my list- ANCELLOTTI,
