It seems that the authorities have agreed with Joe, hence the reason they’re wanting the derby played at a neutral venue because - Liverpool fans.

 

Think we should have a clap and cheer tonight at 8pm for all the valiant, generous, unselfish work that Null And Voiders have put in on social media and radio phone-ins to try and keep it alive these past two months and more. Completely selfless, and without a hint of self-interest. Remember only six of you can go to the funeral though.

 

So Joe was wrong to backtrack on his initial assertion that it wasn't just about Liverpool fans? Hmm, when's he next up for re-election then?

 

His original point was about all fans, he used Liverpool as the example.

You seem desperate to deflect away from the fact that the authorities have patently decided that Liverpool fans can’t be trusted to not turn up, and as a direct result we’ll lose the right to hold the derby at Goodison.

 

Not desperate to deflect at all (btw, I have an avatar in mind if it's called off). The fact that Liverpool are being specifically targeted is just the last bump in the road for this UTTERLY DESERVED title. I suspect that when we get to within one point, there'll be some sort of edict about playing in diving boots and our fans being kept under house arrest, not being able to let off fireworks in their back garden because they may spread the virus, and having to keep our TV's turned off in case we smile in a household of four or more and this is taken as disrespect for the worldwide death toll.

But we will.

Or maybe it could just be that history tells us your fans are highly likely to turn up irrespective of any edict to the contrary.

You could try just reading what people actually write instead of saying "to be clear" and then putting your own version in as though that's the sole correct interpretation. You do this quite a bit and, to be clear, there is a distinction between your opinion and fact.

My point was that, in my opinion, it's clearly nonsense to suggest that this way of ending the season is fair or has sporting integrity as it doesn't affect all teams equally. Stop being so sensitive about Liverpool, clearly its pretty much irrelevant regarding who wins the league in England. Have some awareness that there are also other teams with things to sort out this season. I've said nothing about next season, there are going to be other issues there for sure.

What is about to happen may well be the best solution, doesn't make it fair but it may end up being less unfair than the alternatives.

 

None of which doesn't alter the fact that if you're complaining that ending this season in unfair because it's ending under different conditions than it started, you're setting a standard that next season has to end under the same conditions that it started with, as otherwise it's unfair. Just to be clear.

 

This is as riveting as the **** thread.
