I know that most think I am a Bruce in fan, a happy clapper and all the other badges that start as a bit of fun then become a tag to beat people with. Iâm sure I can hear people think, you cant be a proper fan, you donât care like I care, rose tinted glasses and head burying in sand. Well sorry to disapoint but I do care and I do know all is not well, lots of us do buts its all about reaction and perspective to me. I have been following various groups of men in red and white shirts for over 50 years at two grounds and under a number of chairman and more managers than I can remember. Will Bruce survive, I doubt it but I have no idea when he will go, could be next week, next month or next year but there is one thing I do know, I can do little to affect it. I want us to win every game, be successful and be the best team in the world, I know I wont live to see the day we archive any of that so all I can do is turn up, do my best to enjoy and support the club, do I support the owner, chairman and manager, just for now, just when they are the owner, chairman and manager. Truth is if Bruce is sacked today I will be looking at who the next savourer will be, who he will buy and what success he will bring, but, I wont really believe it. I know Iâm important to the club, I buy my season ticket, I know because I get a nice email once in a while and a nice glossy magazine every quarter, I also know if I stop my DD my seat will be sold without a thought and someone else will get my magazine. A wise man once told me, in my early management days,âThere are 2 kinds of problems in life, those you can do something about and those you cant. Concentrate on the ones you can do something aboutâ, that what I do. If it makes you feel better to let rip about Bruce then rip away, I can understand that, all I ask is you try and understand not all of us do so if we donât let rip, please donât say we donât care, we do.
The only time I have seen any threads with the above intent have been against anyone questioning Bruce! I have never seen threads with the sole intent being to have a go at anyone backing Bruce. All I have ever seen is BOB's stating they respect people standing by Bruce but not agreeing with it! I stand to be corrected as I haven't read every thread since being away again.
Well I have but you miss my point, I'm just giving why, not trying to justify anything, just giving my point of view.
You can effect this situation though syd, as can all fans by either not going to games, or as a season ticket holder like myself, make your feelings know at the end of the game. Low gates and I think Saturday will be around 12,000 down on capacity again, coupled with fans dissatisfaction at games don't fall on deaf ears. Nobody has said you don't care but I am saying that you shouldn't be so accepting of your lot. Apathy is our biggest enemy at the moment. Bruces position has been too safe so far and he needs to be made to feel the frustration and pain we are feeling. All opinions are valid at this time, except for the filthy scum ****ers who think they are so funny on our boards in the past 24 hours.
and I agree with that Cest its on here I dont rant anymore, well I'm trying not to. At games I dont always enjoy, Chelsea I found very bad and left with 10 minutes to go, never ever done that before. Maybe I am apaphetic, maybe I just cant be bothered but I just no longer am prepared to let a bad day become a bad week, right or wrong I cant say, just where I am.
I`ve grown tired of Bruce over the last 12 months and no longer think he`s up to the job. He seems a decent chap & I`m only basing my decision in wanting him out, on the results. I think Quinn & Short will come to this conclusion also. If we lose this weekend, I reckon he`ll be fired and as much as it pains me to say it, I hope we lose so we can get shot him. Then we can bring in O`Neill, or Hughes or perhaps, dare I say it Keane. Then we can kick this season off. KTF
Boycotting games won't help one bit. How about actually filling the stadium, showing other clubs they're not welcome at The SoL? That can only help. We are not settling for this therefore we won't turn up to watch is only adding fuel to the fire. By definition the word support means this: To hold in position as to keep from falling, sinking or slipping. To keep from failing or weakening. To bear the weight of. Now you can derive from those definitions that under no circumstances does it mean: To bail when the going gets tough. To only be there when structurally sound. You see the word "support", has been replaced in football with the word "fan". You, are all football fans, fanatics of football. Now the word fan isn't as associated with football for me, it's usually defined using the words "Ardent enthusiast", and "Devotee". These words mean nothing, enthusiasm is generated almost kinetically, by movement and momentum. An enthusiastic person is usually driven by something. People devote their lives to men and women every day, but that doesn't stop them slotting the cleaner when the wifey is out, or the inevitable divorce does it? If you're a supporter of Sunderland, the whole point is that you are an asset to the foundations of the club, and its growth. By not turning up you're a burden, by complaining publically you're a burden, you're a troublemaker, you're rocking the boat, mid season to boot. Yes Man United fans wore yellow and green scarves and chanted "Glazers out", but it got them nowhere. Do you think Liverpool supporters drove out Hicks & Gillette or do you think the Royal Bank of Scotland did that? It's a no brainer. Look at what's been going on up the road from you, has that achieved anything other than a huge mess on a bi-annual basis? No. Support the 11 lads that turn up on your turf, or don't call yourself a supporter, you're just a fan, that is all.
Wooooooh there, Keane??? His willy nilly spending is one of the reasons why our transfer budget/wages has been so restricted, now that we've got a bit of money lined up for spending in January id be a touch worried if we let Spendy McSpenderson access to our doubloons!
point taken. I just put his name in, as I listened to an interview recently were he was saying he wanted to return to management and that he had learned his lessons. I know it would never happen but just thought he`d be better at making our team play with more heart & passion.
