My view is that the trip to Durham is credible and deserves to hold. The trip to Durham was not though and was a breach of the rules as I understand them. The problem here is that he is linked to future strategy and particularly the need to complete EU discussion by the end of the year that Boris cannot afford to lose him. In mitigation, 4 years is a long time in politics and probably worth the risk.
What about the proven lie regarding his predicting the coronavirus? In my mind that shows that he doesn’t know the difference between lies and the truth. What about the fact that the “sight test” trip to Barnard Castle just happened to be on his wife’s birthday, which he didn’t see fit to mention in his press conference?
Cummings must not go. Who the **** will run the country if he has gone. Our part time lazy so called Prime Minister certainly isn't up to the job and the thought that Gove could replace him is like some sort of horror nightmare that wakes you up in the middle of the night sweating and screaming.
Gove replacing Johnson could be the death knell for the Tory party, so maybe it wouldn’t be too bad of an idea. No way would he attract voters who float between parties, because he has zero personality and, unlike Johnson, he doesn’t know how to hide his vicious streak. He is also close to Scummings, so the question of who is actually in charge would remain.

It'll end up with Cummings resigning or sacked...eventually, because they won't want the party damaged and the only reason he is still there is because they are still in a popularity bubble in their own minds (Johnson and senior Tories) from the election. Their instinct is always to protect their own until the Party gets damaged.
Not sure Johnson can sack Cummings now without appearing incredibly weak. Only way to end the furore for now is for DC to resign; his reasoning would be 'to stop the distractions in this unprecedented time', and then Johnson would re-hire him in a few months if fight against coronavirus has gone well.
