You could be right mate-and too be honest I would rather that the the possibility of what boab is saying, and whilst you are more likely to be right on this one, it isnt too far from the realms of reality to suggest that Grayson has lost the confidence of some of our key players!

The person with minute-to-minute influence on the field is the captain. What has Howson been doing to help things along? The manager gives them their orders for the game and can shout from the touchline, but the captain has to make sure people follow the plan and get them in the right place, calm people down, give them the pat on the back etc.

Can you suggest a better captain that is a regular to howson given the things you just specified a captain should be able to do. I think he had a good game against brighton, maybe not on the captain side of things though. But truth is among the regulars in the team, he is the best candidate for captaincy

agreed. the only other person I would give it to is Becchio (and thats cause I'm biased, but he generally cares and would lead by example!) but I believe that you shouldn't make a striker your captain (too far up field, should be concentrating on getting goals etc). I would leave it with Howson for the foreseeable future

I'm not suggesting that Howson shouldn't be captain, just that He has to share responsibility with the manager for motivating people and keeping heads up when times are tough. It's a bit harsh blaming Grayson for surrendering a 2 goal lead.

a valid point brizzle, but I think what people are gettin at is that this defensive frailty has become the norm, rather than the exception, and whether Howson is being a brilliant captain every game (I do agree some games he could do better) or not, its Graysons responsibility to address the issue. Apart from playing as a 3rd CB in a game, I'm not sure how much more Howson could do himself to help the defence!
