Away from the football side of things on the pitch.

I believe that PUMA's contract with us is up at the end of this season (may be wrong)

If so would you like to keep them or change. If so who would you like?

I'm loving this season's strip (Could be to do with our form) but the quality of the strip itself is poor.

I would like to see us with Nike strips if I'm honest. We had some brilliant kits with adidas (95/97) and some terrible ones (07/09) (Notice how it changes with form of the team) but I think Nike could come up with some beauties.

Also get the Blue star back!

    Thoughts?

I'd like rid of puma for anyone who'll embroider our badge, and with a decent material for the shirts. Nike might work, but then we'll risk looking like Juventus.

    You are correct!!

I wouldn't be surpirised to see a contract extension to the Puma deal or even a deal with Umbro as they have a good relationship with sports direct (im sure Ashley owns a bit of umbro)

Do you not think Mike Ashley will use one of the brands he owns? Something like Lonsdale, Donnay or Slazanger. It wouldn't surprise me if he did.

Most football tops are pretty ****e now to be honest. I hate the badges which are simply stuck on. Our top this season is the worst for making you sweat, I really don't know why Puma don't have a concept of of Adidas' Climacool stuff.

The best one's are probably Nike to be fair. I don't know if you know this but Nike tops always have something on the back of the club badge (you can't see it but little things like that I think make it a bit more desirable. For example I think Man U's is "Believe"

I really have no idea where I have went with this so sorry.

Umbro got taken over by Nike but Mike Ashley did keep some shares in it. Rumour had it that Nike wanted to make the England kit Nike as well, but Mike thought it would ruin Umbro as a brand and therefore kept some shares in it.

Mike ashley then used Donnay and Slazanger to take over the cheap tacky things that Umbro did. I hope this helped.

Surely he would rather another company came in and brought their money into the club rather than FCB having to move money from one of his companies (Umbro) to another (NUFC). Also for this reason I think (and God do I hope) that we won't have Sports Direct.com on our shirts.

Is the black 3rd kit gold badge embroided? I'm looking to get one and I can't find a close up enough picture to tell if its embroided or just a sewed on patch.

Northern Rock sponsor deal runs out in a couple of years I think, so no immediate worry.

You would hope so as any income in better than none, but would he prefer to use the space to hightlight his own brand...who knows but him.

I really like this years kit. Would probably prefer an embroidered badge, but I'm happy with the sponsor just printed on.

I think the Puma contract will be extended, but if it's not I'd like to see Nike.

Adidas or Umbro - love the Umbro ones especially - they have a real quality feel to them.

Adidas hopefully. It'll end up being Donnay though.

No to Nike, I think they've lost all imagination with their shirts!

Puma's sponsor is shocking but I don't mind the badge - I regularly play football and run in my footy shirts and there is nout worse than playing in the freezing cold with a badge that's sharper than Jimmy Carr rubbing against your nipples!

Puma do nice shirts, just for us other clubs it seems!

We can't bring back the blue star, we're not sponsored by the brewery anymore. Not too keen on the strip but its not awful. The quality is pathetic. I'd like a Nike or Adidas but I like Puma gear. I'd probably plump for a change because I wouldn't want the same crap quality again!

I'd be very happy with Adidas back, I've got ten year old shirts in better condition than last years.

I don't think companies are too concerned about the quality of the tops, people will carry on buying them regardless. I personally don't like anything that has those ironed on plastic looking logos, they go shabby no matter how carefully you wash them.
With regards sponsors, hasn't Richard Branson been making moves to buy out Northern Rock? Would he sponsor a football team?
