To be honest, it will be extremely difficult for any of the members of the government who have headed up the press conferences to come out of the pandemic smelling of roses simply because of guilt by association. As I said, Hancock will be the first to be dismissed but it will ultimately lead to Boris being removed by his own party. Ultimately, I think that we are witnessing the beginning of the end for "populism" as a quasit-political movement. The "new normal" will now involved greater State involvement and a move away from market economies. Ultimately, Corbyn has been demonstrated to have been correct although not for the reasons he had envisaged. With regard to the furlough scheme and the government endeavouring to support business, can anyone explain to me why it has not been possible to nationalise everything by using emergency provisions? It strikes me as ridiculous that this has not happened, especially because the net worth of so many businesses now would be extremely low. It would have been an ideal time to say wrap up state ownership of airlines.
......and you still count someone of such low intelligence and very little nous a mate? I went through the list of names of my former mates who voted Tory and who voted Brexit and deleted them from my list of mates. Life is a little lonelier now but I don't have to listen to their bullshit anymore and at this interesting time I do not have to listen to their endless excuses for why it was absolutely fine for Cummins to ignore lockdown rules.
Any support, bail out call it what you will should see the public taking a share of the company pro rata.
Looks like a funny kind of "done" from here. We will keep £10 million quids worth of fish and lose £2 billion financial services income. No deal will finish the UK. We probably could have survived it without the C19 but the two together will put us back in the 1930's.
Johnson and the fundamental brexiteers refusing to extend the brexit negotiations beyond 2020 is tantamount to national self harming. Big EU blaming propaganda already rolling. The UK team want all the benefits with no obligations, what don't they understand about "no cherry picking"? Four years down the line and I still haven't seen a list of leaving benefits that goes anywhere near outweighing the cost.
My niece, resides in Germany with her husband, who works there, for the Foreign Office. Her work is with HMRC, and she was, prior to lockdown, commuting between Berlin and London. She was previously with the Home Office, but became so fed up with the toxic atmosphere, that she got out when the opportunity arose. Her daughter schools in Berlin, and has been back to school for a couple of weeks or so, and it seems to be going ok. But then, they have always been on top of test and trace and reacted sooner to locking down, keeping their death toll down. Their government has managed the crisis. Interesting to see a comment on her Facebook page, from her mum (my sister - a card carrying Mrs Bucket of the worst kind) saying that it was unions “causing trouble here” that was stopping our schools from resuming. I guess that a lot of Tory supporters, with the aid of right wing media, may be putting this spin on things rather than considering that the unions are actually trying to safeguard their members and the children, and by extension, the children’s families.
If Cummings goes, it will prove that Johnson has no loyalty to anyone or anything. Just when his trusted friend needs Johnson's trust, it appears the PM is about to throw him under a bus.
There’s no honour or friendship in this party’s brand of politics. It’s all “what’s in it for me?” and they’ll stab anyone in the back or sacrifice for their own ends. I suspect, though, as Cummings knows too much, that they’ll move heaven and earth to protect him and keep him. Just hope it spells the end of this joke of a government, but, sadly, I have lost faith in the voting populace who, no doubt, will be swayed by the right wing media (including the bbc) to vote them back in again .....
Short Cummings was spotted with his wife and child for a third time by Mr. Lees wondering around a town near Durham. Three times on three different dates, doing three different things. Durham's ANPR cameras must have picked his vehicle up on all those dates. Those still and video images are kept for two years from the date they capture the images. The police and investigative journalists can ask for the footage by applying to the national ANPR database.
And I suspect that the County Durham constabulary may already be taking a keen interest in any/all ANPR footage, as government ministers appear to be gainsaying the information provided by the police, in terms of 'speaking to members of Dominic (blessed be his name) Cummings' family'.
There should be CCTV footage showing his perambulations which would add to the mockery of tory justifications.
