A 13 year old boy died of Covid-19 in hospital, separated from his family who were not allowed to be with him during his illness and death, and were not even allowed to go to his funeral. If, heaven forbid, a similar situation were to arise with a family member of one of this government, or their advisors, would the same restrictions apply?

    I don’t think so.

    Hypocritical scumbags.

Beyond the hypocrisy, the only way severe restrictions work is if people believe that everyone is doing their part. Otherwise, free rider syndrome starts to kick in.

Italy had mayors yelling at people to go the **** home. The UK had government ministers openly flouting the rules. Despite having a worse initial trajectory, Italy has seen their caseload decline much more sharply: new daily cases about 20% that of the UK, despite a comparable population and more testing.

    Signaling matters.

This is openly political, but the issue here is that the current government wants a 'free' society, where everyone is able to make their own choices, and decide for themselves what is best for them. However, the Covid-19 crisis is not about to be resolved by people making their own choices, and the only practical way of getting through this crisis is for people to follow sensible guidelines, which inevitably means that the government tells people what to do. Or, more specifically, not do.

The biggest danger, stemming from Cummings breaking the law, is that a high profile celeb, like Piers Morgan is threatening to drive x miles to visit his parents, if Cummings isn’t sacked.
If he carries out that threat, and broadcasts it on his Twitter account, there is a likelihood that many more could follow suit and create the second spike we need to avoid.
From a government point of view, the more people who copy Cummings, the greater the chance of the disease spreading again and their preferred option of herd immunity becomes a reality.

The 'excuse' made by Cummings supporters is that, although he travelled 260 miles to his parents' house, he actually stayed in separate accommodation, and it was his sister and niece who looked after his 4 year old child. As such, no old people were hurt in the making of this story.

Did you know that 'Dominic Cummings' is an anagram of 'Arrogant Twat'? It isn't, but I'm sure that is not a problem.

So did the sister and niece maintain separation from the elders?
No problem with anagram suits as does an mixed language description klootzak zalupa, Dutch and Russian, roughly translates as ballbag dickhead.

He must know too much and be more dangerous out than in. That’s the only explanation I can see.
