The fact that Corbyn may be a bearded racist terrorist, or that Labour wants to take over the world, is irrelevant ...

    ... they're not in power

It's quite natural that the PM, his ministers and the government should be under the spotlight.

That's how it works and how it's always worked.

I don't believe there's anyone on here who'd disagree with you.

However it doesn't excuse the way this government has behaved.

Nor does the fact that someone else may not have done any better.

IMO there's no defending Cummings, let's see if the PM does ...

... if he sacks him he'll go back up in my estimation.

Imho this is a time when all inter party point scoring should be put to one side. Vomit inducing. Put their differences aside and try and do what's right for everyone .

I am not on any tablets and as you have pointed out yourself Labour lost the general election. Boris Johnson is the Prime minister during this crisis so I fail to see how anybody can turn criticism of his handling of it on it's head and say "thank God Jeremy Corbyn isn't in power" etc. That is obfuscation as Jeremy Corbyn, Kier Starmer and the Labour Party have no say in policy or the direction of travel of management of this crisis. The only people we can criticise are Boris Johnson and the Conservative party as they are in charge.

    FFS do these people think they are above the rest of us;

The PM's chief aide Dominic Cummings is facing calls to resign after it emerged he travelled from London to his parents' home in Durham with coronavirus symptoms during lockdown.

Mr Cummings and his wife, who was also unwell, stayed at his parents' home while self-isolating.

Labour demanded No 10 provide a "swift explanation" for Mr Cummings' actions.

A source close to Mr Cummings denied a breach of the coronavirus rules, saying the couple needed childcare help.

They told the BBC's political editor Laura Kuenssberg that the couple had stayed in a separate building at the property.

Downing Street declined to comment on Friday night, after the Guardian and the Daily Mirror newspapers first reported Mr Cummings had made the more than 260-mile journey.

The government has ordered anyone with coronavirus symptoms to self-isolate at home and not leave - even for essential supplies - for seven days.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in March that children should not be left with older grandparents or older relatives "who may be particularly vulnerable or fall into some of the vulnerable groups".

A Labour spokesman said: "If accurate, the prime minister's chief adviser appears to have breached the lockdown rules. The government's guidance was very clear: stay at home and no non-essential travel.

"The British people do not expect there to be one rule for them and another rule for Dominic Cummings."

Mr Cummings has attended meetings of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) - the scientific body which gives independent advice that shapes the government's coronavirus response.

It's a real shame all this.

I really loved the feeling of us all being in it together.

What a fool I was to think the self entitled would be in it together with us.

If Johnson doesn't sack the man it'll show a lack of decency.

Being a 'character' doesn't mean you have character.

I'm not trying to defend Boris.

You said, the difference between the 2 is that Corbyn is honest.

I was just demonstrating that that's not the case.

Well, Boris has come out and defended him saying he ‘in know way breached guidelines...’

He drove 250 miles for non-essential travel, in a car with his family, to see further family, with symptoms.

    Ok then.

And he did all of those things KNOWING he had the virus and could infect other people. I also think he probably couldn't have drove all that way without stopping somewhere for fuel or whatever, so putting people at service stations at risk besides his parents. He simply has to go.

If he doesn't get sacked, this one man has blown lockdown and isolating., and if Boris needs to speak to the nation later for a return to lockdown if numbers increase, he's going to be totally ignored.

Isn’t there a quite common school of thought that this fella actually runs the country behind Boris as the public persona?

not something I’m clued up on but certainly I’ve read this in past.

They have a kid who's 3 or 4 years old, they will have stopped multiple times.

Also, his wife has published an article about their experience with Covid-19 that is either a blatant fabrication or has several acts of stupidity where they've ignored the guidelines.

I'd be interested to hear from Cummings about whether his wife is a complete liar publishing propaganda to gain him some sympathy or if it is (largely) true and they've ignored the guidelines letting his son mix between parents and grandparents.
