Absolute nightmare in Cornwall today. Beaches are packed out. Cars parked all over the roads. No toilets open, no Lifeguards on beaches. Two kids in trouble today helped out by an off duty lifeguard. Boris has really ****ed it for us here. We desperately need a limit on how far you can travel. Everyone staying over night. Holiday home owners coming in. It needs sorting here quick or there will be lots of new cases.

Or I suppose the alternative would be to be actually more open about how you can meet people, for example allow 2m apart meetings in people’s gardens.
Those that won’t follow the rules would do it anyway and those who do follow the rules would have an option to meet people without needing to go to a public place?

There's a limit to how much the authorities can do.

If you are a dumb bastard who flocks to an already overcrowded location & ignores all warnings, advice and sense, there's little hope for you.

This. Plus the fact that Troy Deeney is presumbaly capable of having a shower with soap after training, which will dramatically reduce his chances of carrying the virus home.

He's more likely to get Covid-a9 getting £50 out of the cash till than he is training on the same field as Adrian Mariappa.

You are right on that. A mileage limit would give the police some powers to turn them back. What is a reasonable limit to non essential travel ?

    It's not that surprising.
I went for a bike ride down the Hornsea railway track and the sheer amount of younger people 15-18 was unbelievable .
Big groups of 10+ all sat next to each other.
There must have been a 10 fold increase in the amount of people down there compared to a normal summer evening

Whether anyone likes it or not, it’s not actually a relevant question.
The coronavirus restrictions law has always said anyone could travel anywhere as long as they had a ‘reasonable excuse’ That hasn’t changed.
So day one everyone could have gone to the beach, then if anyone was arrested or fined it would have been up to a court to decide whether that was reasonable or not.
The only thing Govt announcements have done, and a few tweaks in the wording of that law, is tried to set the bar about what they think is ‘reasonable’ that’s all.
So either way distance travelled has never been a legally enforceable issue, just a part of what is reasonable though

    ...I’ve over analysed your question haven’t I <confused>

I work in a large supermarket retailer. In some eyes the Lockdown is over, in some it has never been on. We have large families now coming in. ( some brought them in from day one) Dogs abuse from some we tried to reason with. Kids running around touching stuff in a building that still even in these times has 25k customers coming in. Why would anyone bring kids in when both parents are present. We even had a couple with a 3 day old baby in. What don’t these people realise about what’s going on. I can’t believe Hull hasn’t spiked out of control. In some ways after getting wound up how dumb some people are it gives my hope that maybe we are on top of things.

I think it's just lucky that the virus is not as potent and easily spread as was first feared and suggested.

    Next time?

Thanks Den. Just blowing off steam yesterday. Between the posters here you always get a good answer. Maybe City Man was the best. Really **** all you can do about it but be careful yourself. A mileage limit would have helped us here no doubt as it would have greatly restricted people travelling into Cornwall. We went from nothing to mass tourism inside four hours.

Whenever I go out I see loads of people not observing the distancing- shops, kids on bikes, kids congregating, families taking the piss, large groups of young men playing football on Pearson Park (a few yards from the cop shop) etc.

Same folks who litter, ride on pavements etc basically

Not in their DNA to be responsible and most will avoid infection, and not even realise there's a killer bug about.

Personally can't think of much worse than a popular seaside resort on a hot day on what is effectively a public holiday, even when there's no virus around!
