I worry about the decline of jet skiing there. One of the few things I enjoyed there. That and the endless supply of home-made marmalade and conserves.

There is actually nothing wrong with that drug, if used as prescribed. That prescription would not be for COVID but the other conditions that it has helped for many years. The problem is you've got a fooking idiot promoting it for all the wrong reasons, then you've got an excitable media telling you how harmful it is. It isn't harmful at all (none more so than any other prescribed drug), if used as prescribed!

I think the key part is "if used as prescribed". Which is pretty much the same for any medication. If you don't have arthritis, lupus or malaria I personally wouldn't recommend taking it. He's an idiot for promoting it though and saying he knows doctors who take it. Obviously some of the idiots who believe in him will probably buy it on the black market or sumnt when their doctor or local drugstore tells them to fck off.

Like I said though, I got no problem with him taking it. I also got no problem with the idiots who listen to him taking it as well. Darwin theory innit.

What I hate from this scenario and it's aimed as much at the media as it is Trump, is there's thousand of poor fookers taking that drug, who are now probably more fearful of catching COVID as result. I'm seeing misinformation on both sides. Trumps being a dick, and the media are sensationalising it to a degree, that it becomes scare mongering rather than informative. Well that's how I see it anyway.

I don't agree with the government ducking their responsibility, by blaming the science. They and they alone make the decision, whether to act on information given. We vote the politicians as accountable not the scientists.

How you play the cards you are dealt is down to you, if your scientists give you bad advice, hire new ones, preferably German.

There is no way to come out of this looking good for any country leader (possible exception with New Zealand), people are dying and others need someone to blame, usually those that live in that country.

There are plenty of countries whose leaders will come out of it fine and deserve to do so.

Sadly ours will be one of them and it won't be because they deserve it. More to do with apathy and lack of political accountability.

I think you missed my point.
They may come out fine in our opinion but to their own people who have lost friends and family there will always be more they could have done (or done better).

Oh I see. I don't think so for some countries though. I was watching the news over the weekend and forget about the countries, they had the state governor of Kerala (probably spelt that wrong) - a state in India with 35 million people and only about 350 deaths. And a woman in charge... again lol. She was talking through every stage of their response from the moment the news broke about the virus in China and how they went into lockdown, the challenges with the population density, bringing together multi-agencies and sorting out PPE. She could talk for India btw and they had to shut her up in the end, but it was impressive stuff tbh. I dare say there are a few places in the world like that which we probably aren't aware of, where their ppl will consider they did all they could.

TBH India impressed me greatly when this virus "got real", not so much the government as the people.
They were asked (not told/forced) to stay indoors for 24 hours to allow the virus to die off on surfaces they may touch. For 24 hours the streets were literally deserted and this is in a country where people are walking on each others heads in big city's.
Sometimes you just need the population to have some sense and respect to ease things.
I live opposite a shop and for he last two weeks i have seen British mentality at it's worst. Gangs of late teen/early 20s lads 9 or 10 strong walking to the shop pushing and shoving each other and play wrestling twice this week two groups of mixed early teens have turned up on bikes/walking in numbers of 11 to 13 all just acting like kids do.
We are dumb but expect the powers that be to solve the problems.

Just started reading that and decided to save and read tomorrow, from the first 3 paragraphs i would say it reads like i would have expected the American CDC to act from the films i have been force fed.
    Reality is sometimes surprising.

I think it's a bit of both mate. Yes we've got idiots but we also lack good leadership at times. When we have strong leadership the public will largely follow.

That's not a dig at any party or anything, that's a general feeling.
