They've scrapped the season up here, and using the points per game equation, Celtic have been crowned champions (they were 13 points clear anyway) and Hearts have been relegated. Hearts were 4 points from safety with 8 games to go, and are already planning legal action. According to their chairwoman (she's a right old battleaxe) no matter how expensive and drawn out the case may be, it would be more preferable for them than facing relegation - this doesn't bode well for the English game at the top levels being scrapped.
Exactly the case! Plus I guess that the “blue” part of Glasgow is not ecstatic and has already smashed all the green lights in the traffic lights of Glasgow town. At least the lawyers will be happy!
Here's the story abiut Hearts legal case https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52710194 Also, as light training resumes, six positive tests for COVID among premier league squads... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52726278
You have perfectly summed up the issues in your post. Freeze the season with the points per game system and there will be the “Hearts” scenarios. Try to play out the season and you have the ever present “virus”. A classic “Catch 22”!
The Football League to keep promotions and relegations should the season be curtailed. This clearly is “Plan B” should they be unable to complete the season, which is becoming complicated, thus more unlikely. The Spanish “La Liga” to resume 8th June and behind locked doors. We await a call on the Championship and the R’s. La Liga can resume behind closed doors from 8 June, says Spain's prime minister https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52783201
As you say, let’s hope. The matches with no crowds are rather soulless, but I guess better than no football at all.
Surprisingly good results from the Championship. Coronavirus: Two Championship players test positive for Covid-19 http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52789239
Looks like the Premier League is set to restart on 17 June? http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52833725 I guess this may coincide with the Chanpionship????.
Lack of testing probably and they’ll need to align with the leagues below about what they’re doing with promotion/relegation.
Of course it’s the governments fault isn’t it eh? Keep your thoughts to that other boring tedious debate you & your budies are on every day, can’t wait till it starts & something else to talk about
I have been searching the internet and can find nothing at all on the topic. Hopefully there will be some news tomorrow?
