Brilliant, utterly brilliant plan from ‘Grant’ Shapps, some kind of cabinet minister for transport, to set up ‘air bridges’ so people can go on holiday without quarantine. The bridges link places with low levels of the virus and good control measures. Obviously this does not include the UK, which has the highest level of excess deaths in Europe, by a ****ing mile. Who would want to come here, or accept people from here? What next from ****wit central?
Everyone sitting comfortably? All happy with what the “R” number is and how it is calculated? Excellent, could someone please tell Jenny Harries? She might be a bit worried by a couple of things. The app that Beth, I and three million others use has the number of current infections in the country estimated to be about 250,000. This is way lower than the peak, but it has been flat or slightly rising for a week. Indicating a ‘R’ of 1 or slightly more. Not convinced? Don’t blame you, it’s not an official government sponsored magic app is it? Bit dodgy, not exactly kosher. Have a little look at the chart for hospital admissions that Jenny, or one of her buddies, will present this afternoon. It will show the same thing - although much lower than the peak, hospital admissions have been constant for about a week, rather than continuing the fall which would be expected with a continued effective social distancing strategy. I doubt Jenny or her clone will dwell on this though. Probably won’t say anything, or at most that ‘admissions are steady’ as if this is good. I think someone on the BBC noticed this yesterday, so the chart might be gone today, like the international comparison ones. Ministry of Truth is working overtime. Doubleplusgood. But hold on, I hear you yell, it’s too soon for the looser restrictions to have worked through into hospital cases isn’t it? Well yes, but remember VE Day? And I suspect quite a lot of us began our own unofficial loosening of the rules before that. Bradford Hospital which had 3 COVID patients ten days ago now has 30. Carry on COVID! Multiple choice: The government of the UK has which policy to tackle coronavirus?: A. Achieve ‘herd immunity’ with deniability, especially amongst the elderly in care homes B. Track, trace and isolate virus carriers with a magic app C. Do 100,000 to 500,000 tests a day, on up to 17 different people, but keep the results secret D. Contain! Wash our hands for twenty minutes each hour. No kissing. No punching. E. Ensure at all times that there is a spare bed in ICU, by discharging elderly people if this looks compromised. F. Blame the Chinese. G.All of the above H. None of the above Answers on a postcard to 10 Downing Street. Mark envelope ‘scientific advice’.
Easy one Stan ...G But you have forgotten the antibody test which we will develop in this country...because we are the best....and are now buying from Roche ( I am sure the Germans have beeen using it for a couple of months already) The vaccine, that we are developing (which we actually are, but the unit the "government" has been lauding, was already financed and being built before this has all blown up!) But can I give you some good news the NIHR have been running a clinical trial The RECOVERY trial. This is a multifaceted, multi-armed trial for treatment of really ill COVID patients. The patients are treated in a randomised fashion to several arms.... A range of potential treatments have been suggested for COVID-19 but nobody knows if any of them will turn out to be more effective in helping people recover than the usual standard of hospital care which all patients will receive. The RECOVERY Trial will begin by testing some of these suggested treatments: Lopinavir-Ritonavir (commonly used to treat HIV) Low-dose Dexamethasone (a type of steroid, which is used in a range of conditions typically to reduce inflammation). Hydroxychloroquine (related to an anti-malarial drug) Azithromycin (a commonly used antibiotic) Tocilizumab (an anti-inflammatory treatment given by injection) In Oxford they are also adding a sixth arm whereby they are treating some patients with plasma from patients who have got better (made an immune response) I am told the results are pleasing and should be avaialble soon, although I think the Trump favoured Hydroxychloroquine arm is one of the least effective arms. Some of our scientist clinicians really really are cutting edge....but not all This is a NIHR, Oxford, Wellcome Trust, Bill Gates initiative...but I am sure Boris thought of it first
I see remdesivir got emergency approval for treatment of serious cases in Japan and the US and the EU is fast tracking it too, not sure if we are still covered by the EMA, hope so. In the US they are trialling remdesivir in combination with Baricitinib, one of my company’s products, for rheumatoid arthritis and other auto immune conditions, an anti cytokine storm element I guess. Just re read your post. That’s a really complicated trial!
Wish this **** on stage standing on a copy of the Yellow Pages would answer a straight question with a straight answer.
We will need help every ****ing year picking from now on. I wonder if any brexiteers take up the offer?
Nothing today mate. There is s call for some fruit and veg pickers put out by the government if you're interested.
Quality summary . Before I glanced on here I see we have now shot up to 44K deaths because someone suddenly has decided the cat is well and truly out of the bag so they had better come clean about the care home fiasco.. However they do it in a factual way as a correction of mistakes in reporting previously. I'm waiting for someone tomorrow, possibly Bojo or the Govemeister to tell us that this is what they have always known and said. They can then feign outrage at the very suggestion there has been any skulduggery concealment or ineptitude by the government or its spokespersons. None at all. Ever. Not on their watch. And that they have always known the risks, would have done something to prevent it had they not been misled by their scientific advisers into relying on what they were told. Joe Bloggs [our overpaid handpicked employee] told us. So it must be true. Their stance will then morph into 'we always told you so' and they will wheel out Priti Patel to apologise sincerely if anyone feels that they might have got it wrong or have made mistake after mistake in the way the govt has conducted itself. I just hope next time that the massed ranks of journalists actually ask her. "Well did you?" Come on Laura K. Earn your salary. Don't let her slither away until she has answered that one simple question.
Yup, the Ex Director of the DPP, a Corbynski clone, yet another London bubble millionaire trying to tell working class people that he’s here to represent them, Keir Starmer couldn’t find his way to the labour heartlands outside London if he had a f*cking Sat Nav. And I don’t read the mainstream media like you do, I prefer to get my news online or from AlJazeera, or euronews or even RT, so don’t assume I read the same ****e you do.
No this is all on the garbage the biased press feed you and the sheeple mate, go elsewhere for your news and see a different perspective, don’t believe all that the BBC or ITV anti government agencies tell you .
A Corbynski clone but also another Blair who knows nothing outside of London but studied in Leeds. What a diverse guy. It’s almost like you’re ****ing clueless and just spouting cliches from memes you’ve read on far right social media accounts.
It has the highest level because most countries are not recording every Covid19 death as the cause, but are going on underlying health issues, ffs, stop believing the mainstream lying media watch Al Jazeera or RT and get a different picture.
