I have to fully agree with Lord Heseltine's comments and he was spot on. The government is in a lose/lose situation, damned if they do, damned if they don't. Anyway, it will be briefing time soon I am sure there will be some new doctor today that you can all a liar or stupid?
It's very calculated that the demographic that are moving away from him and heading back to Nige... Then this!
They weren’t in a lose-lose situation as other countries have shown it was possible to lock down relatively early and minimise the time spent in lockdown and thus the economic impact. Our genius approach looks set to deliver the worst of both. Only if they lie or say something stupid or I’d have no material to work with.
Ellers, not having a go mate but it is kind of funny that you posted this at 12:40 about people wasting their lives on here and then having stopped posting since......I told you this board is a bit like Heroin....and you mate are firmly hooked
We must be the only country in the world where the leader has just gone missing during a national crisis
Dunno how it works but I think all the Aussie Paramedics we employ (many) do get reimbursement for visa expenses.....we wouldn’t be able to cope without them.
Few pints down him, racially abuse someone, impregnate another woman, kick a few foreign nurses out of the country and then clap for them as they leave. All in a days work!
I also take classes at schools and I have no problem. We live with many diseases and we need to use common sense. In fact before the lockdown I had a 2 hour class with 30 kids and just adapted with the guidelines. I have been asked to return in Sept and I will use the same common sense.
thats just wrong mate. You don’t know when this disease was here so lockdown could have been missed long before? We known that in December the fella in France who died had Covid in his blood. They said he probably contracted it in November. In that case it would have been here in December? I reckon at some point they will confirm this here. When those antibodies test arrive and we see just how many had it... I think that will be an eye opener. As for the economy last quarter our GDP was -2 whereas France -6 Italy the same. Time will tell what affect it will have
You pluck out the few snippets of info that vaguely suggest it was all a lost cause and cling onto them for dear life. It’s an exponentially-growing virus. It doesn’t just stay dormant for months.
whether sending kids in or not being the right answer isn't what i was calling you up on (i will leave that to you and westy and bob). It was more the argument you made that it was the unions and not the teachers themselves which i happen to disagree with (anecdotally and cross sample here) I do think there will come a time where we just need to accept the consequences of living with covid and adapt our society.
I'm not sure, to be honest. Every day something new is coming out with COVID. I guess most information points to China but I heard something else the other day which says different... it probably is China though.
Bobby firstly your last statement is what I believe will be the case. We still live with other diseases and COVID will be no different. I think some are playing up (unions). My partner's good friend works as a headteacher and they only spoke yesterday. Her concerns were of how to control all the kids (policing with social distancing) and class sizes. It will be a challenge but we can't keep them off school too long. I see so many kids around here in the parks during the day and that cannot be good. I also think that you can't possibly get the same tuition at home.
I have to disagree with you there (surprise) we took our son out of school at the beginning of this year to predominantly home school. We do this via ourselves and private tutors. It costs us but so far its proving to be a much better education and his predicted grades, barring one are now all 'a' or the now equivalent of. One on one teaching cant be beaten I'm afraid. The classroom situation in schools is shocking, especially now English is taught at mixed ability. It's the best decision we ever made. The violence and drug issues in schools has become impossible to manage.
